'Additional information'?

<p>Er. Considering that the header for the 'additional information' section says, and I quote:</p>

<p>"If you think additional information or material will give us a more thorough impression of you, please respond below."</p>

<p>Would an extra essay/piece of writing be thoroughly out of place in there? I happen to have written an essay that I'm hugely, hugely proud of, and I do think it presents things about me that aren't in my other MIT essays -- should I put it in, or will it unnecessarily annoy admissions officers?</p>

<p>That would be fine. What would annoy them is more likely if it's something that doesn't add anything to your application -- if you've written something that you think helps give a complete picture of who you are, the "additional information" section is the place to put it.</p>
