Additional Letter of Rec

Is it okay to include additional letters of rec (more than is required) from someone besides a counselor or teacher to the school u are applying to?

It doesn't say anything about it on the college websites.

The answer is yes. It should say on the application instructions.

Just make sure you have them include all your relevant data on the top, such as your name, DOB, SS #, High School name, Common App'l number, etc., so this rec will find it's way into your file. But don't send more than one extra rec--it is apparently seen as overkill!

So sending two is bad?

any other suggestions
do u guys think colleges will think one extra rec is just too much.

the school requires one teacher and one counselor but i want to do two teachers, 1 counselor, and one music conductor rec.

That would be twice the number they're asking for. I wouldn't do it, but if you feel you must, go ahead.

Well, what is the worst that would happen if I did?

Most schools will accept 2 teacher recommendations. Anything 3 or more starts to get them annoyed most likely as they are reading through thousands of applications, multiply that by 2 for all the letters they have to go through.

I have 1 teacher writing my letter of recommendation, then 1 tutor I had grade 6-10 writing one. My uncle is an alumni of one university i'm applying to, he is writing a letter to the president so I'll have to see if anything happens from that

I have a problem with additional recs too:

One college requires one rec and the other college requires two.
I had one teacher finalized to do a letter of rec and had asked another teacher as well. That teacher didn't reply back for at least two weeks. (he normally gets back to me within a day or two) He finally replied the day AFTER I asked another teacher in place of him.
So now I have 3 recs going to both colleges.
Will this count against me or should I do something to take out one letter of rec while I have the chance??

Rwishka--Cancel your 3rd one, explaining that you just heard back--they'll be glad not to have to do it as most teachers are overwhelmed with writing recs.

Thanks for the help! I think that is the best thing to do in this situation. :)
