I've been waitlisted at 4 schools, and 2/4 told me not to send in any additional letters of recc, but according to (Part 1: Answers to Readers' Decision-Time Questions - NYTimes.com) this, "An additional letter of support from school or a teacher is fine. But there are balances to consider. Dont call every day or even once a week. Time may pass without resolution. Its O.K. to touch base again but not nag."

Am I allowed to send in another letter of recc? And yeah, I know there isn't much hope for Waitlistees, but I think I owe it to myself to finish this college process to the end haha

Call your admissions officer and inquire about Pomona’s specific policies: [Meet our Admission Officers - Pomona College](http://pomona.edu/admissions/meet-us/officers.aspx)

Good luck!

Thank you! I’ll be needing all the luck I can get haha

I don’t think admissions officers like letters of rec. at this point. My sister asked her Yale/Bucknell admissions officer friends, and they said that a really nice e-mail from the student to admissions would be appropriate/useful.

Having a son who was admitted to Pomona off the waitlist I will say he did not send an additional letters of recommendation. He did send a brief update to the school of things in his life since the original app. I believe the key, in his case, was that two admissions officers, including the one who interviewed him, had met with him. For those of you on the waitlist I know what a stressful time this is. Trust that you will end up in a great school. Best wishes.

I got an email back from my regional rep and she said not to send any letters of recommendation. 70’s Grad, how provocative was your son in the waitlist process?

Youwrote He sent a single short note thanking them for their time and expressing his continued interest in Pomona. He also mentioned regional and state academic awards he had received since the application. The note was not more than a couple of short paragraphs. Remember the admissions people are still busy with such things as admitted students days. My son was only wait listed at one other school and he did not pursue admission there. In May he received a telephone call from one of the Pomona admission officers asking if he was still interested. His verbal commitment was followed by a written acceptance note a couple of days later. Included in the letter was a financial aid award so that wasn’t delayed. He had to confirm the verbal commitment in writing and send the deposit right away. He of course lost his deposit to the school he had sent the original SIR to along with scholarships that were school specific. Though I wish you luck remember this wait list thing can really stretch out and for many the best thing is to go with what might not be their first choice. I did not get accepted to my first choice but it all worked out for the best and I am assured that even if Pomona does not come though your college experience will be a positive one.
