<p>I've realized that I want to submit an additional letter of recommendation with my application; every school that I've applied to allows them but doesn't say how to submit them or what to have the recommender include.</p>
<p>Is it safe to assume that the school wants the letter mailed to their admissions office? If yes, what information should be included on the envelope and/or in the letter itself so that the admissions office can match up the letter with the proper file?</p>
<p>Here’s an example from Y, I think it gives some good information on the type of info the recommender should provide in order to match up the LOR with your app:</p>

<p>Yes, send it to the Admissions Office address. I would also add that if possible, your recommender should use official stationary and include your application identification number if the school has given you one.</p>

<p>Would the Common App ID number suffice?</p>
<p>For a college that uses the common app, the common app id number is, in fact, one thing you should definitely have the writer put on the letter because it provides an easy method for the college to match the letter to the application. If that number is included, providing your name and high school (which should be on the paper the teacher uses if he uses school stationery) is the only other info needed.</p>
