<p>I'm having my viola teacher write one. He strongly believes that I still have untapped potential and should definitely continue playing through college... but I'm not sure if it would help... It could fortify your interest in an area not of your major..</p>

<p>have the teacher write a letter, in standard rec format. they all know what those look like. special forms aren't strictly speaking necessary.</p>
<p>but are there any written guidelines for this optional letter? i didn't think columbia even gave this option</p>
<p>also--is attaching a 4th letter unheard of?</p>
