Additional Recommendation

I'm a bit confused about Stanford's additional letter of recommendation. On the admissions website, it says that Stanford lets you submit an additional rec letter from someone (not a teacher) who knows you well. I'd like to have my coach write one, but I am unsure how I fit this into the rest of my application. Neither the common app nor the Stanford supplement seem to have a place for it. On the Stanford website, all it says be sure to put the applicant's name on the rec letter. Anyone know anything about this?

I have the same problem.
does anybody know how to send additional letters of rec. to Stanford?

I gave my coach’s letter to my counselor and she’s going to mail it out (along with my transcript and such) for me. My coach wrote a generic one, though I did print out the commonapp teacher rec form and gave it to him as a reference.

Just give the outside recommender a pre-addressed envelope for them to mail in their letter. Ask them to include your SS# (in addition to your name) so it gets into the correct file.

thanks guys!
so I’m not required to use the teacher evaluation form (CommonApp’s one) for the additional letter.
also how can i let the University know that the person writing the letter, is a prominent figure (a scholar, etc.)

by the way, what’s SS#?

SS# is a Social Security Number. And the writer should identify who they are and why their recommendation should carry any weight as part of the letter.

so there is no need for the fancy teacher evaluation form (Common App)? the writer will just identify himself in the letter?
