Hi. So for schools like Northwestern University, Wash U at St. Louis, and University of Notre Dame that require at least one teacher recommendation on the Common App, would it be acceptable to send in an additional teacher recommendation? Or do they really just stress the "different perspective" criteria and find a second teacher's rec useless/annoying?
Because, for me, I really don't know which teacher out of my two choices (I've already asked both) would write me a stronger recommendation, and I'm scared that I chose the wrong (well, i guess "weaker" would be a better word) teacher/rec. So I'm basically just wondering if sending another teacher recommendation would hurt my chances of getting in these said schools, or others like them.
If anyone applied to those schools especially could please reply to this thread? But all comments are welcome. Thanks!

If they want a different perspective, give them a different perspective. But if your second teacher can say great things about you, send three recs!

I’m just simply not sure. I don’t have a really close relationship with any of my teachers (because I’m a pretty quiet student), but I know I am well-liked enough, especially by the two teachers I chose. I just don’t have much to go off of in choosing one of them for those specific colleges. I don’t know which one has more to write about regarding myself. They’re also pretty different themselves; one teacher is loud, funny, and outgoing with her students and the other is quiet, timid, and more reserved in nature. But of course they’re both really sweet people. Anyways, I’m getting off topic. The point is, I would like to send in two…but I don’t want the admissions officers to become annoyed with me, especially if they overlap, which I’m not sure if they would or not. I mean, they only require one for a reason, right?

One more thought. I also feel like one of my teachers has strong writing skills, but the other has more to say about me, since I talked to her more, or rather had more opportunities to. Currently, I have only asked the latter teacher to send in her letter to those above three schools (that only require one recommendation).

Sorry. That was a mouthful!
Thanks for your reply, by the way.
