Additions to the Essays

I have a few uncertainties about the application. As far as I know, I have to submit my common application essay, my supplement essays(if required), my general info on the common app that asks for name, bday, school, list of ecs, awards, accomplishments, etc.,transcript, and recommendations.

In addition to these, do I need to attach anything else to my application. An activity list that displays my hours per week in an activity and a brief discussion of it, resume, a profile of all the classes I took? Are these necessay as well? Also, is there anything else missing?

a supplemental activities resume isn’t mandatory with the common app but many people submit one to all their schools. Many others don’t. The people that do generally are finding there isn’t space on the common app to fully describe their ECs.

A resume (which is different from an EC resume) is not as commonly submitted with the common app although some do because they have a special situation. For example, a lot of work experience or other experiences to describe. there are some schools that don’t use the common app form and they specifically ask for a resume.

Most people do not send a profile of the classes they took unless they are in a unique situation. Your counselor should send an overview about your school along with your transcript and that should provide enough info about the rigor of your school.

I assume you know you need to send test scores and transcripts from any college courses.

Beyond that, you really have to look at the app for each school. Some require things that none of the others do. One school I’m applying to requires a photo. It really varies. Also, if you are an athlete or artist you might need to submit items to highlight those skills.

About my school, I have done well all three years so far but the system of the schools hasnt allowed me to take the classes I wanted. For example, in freshmen year, I wanted to take more advanced classes but my counselor didnt let me because i didn’t take honor classes in middle school. During my sophmore and junior years, I took all honors and two aps and got as in all but there were “higher” classes. The reason I couldn’t take them was beasue my freshmen year counselor(whom got arrested…and now im on my third counselow…)

I have gotten all good grades and have done on all standardized tests but that one year has been my obstacle.

Can i mention this in my app?

PS. my school system changed and know the lower classmen can take what they want as long as they sign an agreement -_-…
