I've gotten the acceptance letter and offered a scholarship, and that news came a month ago. I still haven't heard about any additional fin. aid. Has anyone heard more from the school? Anyone hear about accepted student events? I feel like I've fallen into a dark hole....

We've heard nothing at all! Did you apply RD?

Ditto. I applied RD and haven't heard anything!

Hi all, my son applied EA by Dec 1st, and got his acceptance packet around Jan 17th. We have not received the finaid info yet, but he was awarded a small scholarship in his acceptance letter. Also, the open house for accepted students is the weekend of Apr. 14-15th, you can go either day. They haven't sent out the info for that yet. No, Wandering, you haven't fallen into a dark hole!! I'm just glad to see people finally posting in the Marist thread, cause it brought me out of lurking! LOL

Last year, between the lower sticker price than some privates, the merit scholarship, and a small financial aid grant, they had a more competitive financial package for our son. I don't recall when we got the financial aid package, but I would guess early April.

I hope they offer more than the scholarship-- the other 2 schools we got a package for are each offering about the same amount, one includes a Stafford loan and work study, and the other home state college it's the Stafford and a state grant, not work study. I was hoping for better, but since we have saved a little for college, I guess we have to pay out.

Is it worth getting in the deposit before the finaid package comes? Is there any benefit if you sign on early? We're pretty sure he's going there, but are still waiting on 2 other schools' decisions and don't want to walk away from a deposit if another school comes through with better. Thanks!

I unfortunately don't have the answer to question about depositing early. My son decided not to attend. I really liked Marist and my younger son might be considering it. Good luck to your son and let us know how he likes it after his first semester!

US - I don' t think there is any advantage to sending in money early to ANY school. hang onto your money as long as you can, you'll be parted with it soon enough. Wait for the aid package. It should be here soon. I really liked Marist, but it's not the number one choice, so for me the money will make a difference since a really great package will bump it higher on my list.

thanks Iam... I'm pretty sure we won't get much more money than the scholarship, in the package, but Marist is the best value of all the colleges so far, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

To the other RD posters, when did you both apply? Don't forget, they're on spring break now--those letters should be coming soon!

us4asmc, We did not get much additionally, but they did offer a small grant in addition to merit aid, along with a subsidized Stafford. They really made themselves competitive financially. If S had the school as #1 on his list, I would have sent him. There were some aspects of the school that made the school less appealing to my S than a couple of his other choices, but these were just a matter of his personal preferences.

Thanks for your input, NEmom. It IS all about fit and personal taste, isn't it now, LOL. I think the only unappealing thing for my son is that on-campus housing is not as yet guaranteed all 4 years. But yes, 'twill be interesting to see how the first semester goes!

Just received letter-with a nice merit scholarship!!!

That's great! I love your screenname-I think that's what my son must be thinking a lot, lately!

applied RD.. absolutely NOTHING!.. plus their website is terrible and does not allow for application status or anything like that

totally left in the dark

werent we supposed to hear by the 15th? that as yesterday and im still waiting

admitted as well

be loved, I wasn't sure what the RD notification date was, just that your app had to be in by Feb. 15th. I knew if you got your app in for EA by Dec. 1st, the notification was Jan 15th. I know it's really tough, but maybe because it's their spring break, the offices aren't open. My son called on Monday, and the message said they were closed and to call back during reg. hours. But it was reg work hours, so maybe they have the week off too.

I called on Thursday the 15th and was told that my daughter's letter (she asked her name so I think she looked at her specifically) was being mailed that day. Maybe they didn't mail all that day? BeLoved, I don't know where you're from, but there was a nasty snow storm in NY on Friday-maybe the mail was held up.

i live in NJ.. i got it today =] [good news hence the excitement].. wooo FINALLY

so everyone else.. it must be on the way =D yay

I got my acceptance letter over the weekend, with a nice $10k scholarship.

=)!

did you guys who just heard get any notice of fin. aid?
