<p>Ok so I'm currently a senior in high school and I'm looking for colleges. I'm planning to major in Computer Science. Between the two universities, which has a better program and a better reputation. Also which school has a better reputation for getting a job. Thanks.</p>
<p>they are both similar third tier schools - you’re better off at a suny or cuny to save the money.</p>
<p>On CC, I have heard many students’ bad experiences at Hofstra (you can search the threads). I have no clue about Aldephi. As GWAlum07 mentioned, in-state public universities would be better than either of the two.</p>
<p>So I should just apply to a Cuny and I’ll be better off? My list includes the following: Hunter, Queens College, Poly NYU, NYIT, Fordham, St Johns, Manhattan College, Stony Brook and Sung at Oswego. I was thinking about adding Adelphi and Hofstra but its better off not applying to those two right?</p>

<p>We are opening our brand new School of Engineering and Applied Science next year, which will include computer science. Our computer science program is very strong and well-funded. <p>There are many advantages to studying at Hofstra University. Our faculty are the only ones that teach, you will not have a graduate assistant teach a course. The Career Center has very strong connections to many firms and companies in New York City. They work closely with students to ensure that they have the best opportunities in securing a good job. Hofstra is a medium sized school with the resources of a large institution. </p>

<p>If you have relatively high stats, there are some very generous scholarships at Adelphi that could bring your cost down below a CUNY or SUNY. My D had several acceptances both public and private, and she chose Adelphi for its programs but also because it ended up with the lowest overall cost of attendance. </p>
<p>She loves the campus, really enjoys her classes and profs, has many great friends, and loves the proximity to NYC. They are very strong in internships as well. The only negative has been how quiet the weekends are - a large percentage of students are commuters or locals who go home, and the school shuts down significantly as a result. But many schools on your list would have that kind of experience, and you appear to be local yourself, so maybe it wouldn’t be an issue for you.</p>

<p>Several of my friends kids are at Adelphi and love it. Others are at Hofstra and are happy there are well.</p>
<p>Personally, I would not go to any program that is in it’s first year. (Sorry Hofstra Rep) though they may offer decent aid to get kids interested. </p>
<p>What are your stats? GPA/SAT? That may help us find schools for you.</p>
<p>My GPA is 3.0 out of 4 and my sat reading is 510 math is 600 writing is 500. I am taking the SATs again in December hopefully I improve in the reading section.</p>
