After reading the symptoms for ADHD, I feel like I have it. If in reality I do and I get a positive result, will it count against me when I apply for colleges?

Never try to self-diagnose yourself online. That is a huge no-no when it comes to disorders like ADHD. See a doctor before you make any kind of decisions, ESPECIALLY concerning any kind of medication.

And no, that’s silly - why would colleges hold a disorder that you can’t control against you?

I know a kid who wrote in his college apps that he has AHDH and it actually benefitted him. Not sure if that’s everyone’s case though.

@Rob1995 I was just making sure if I do go check with the doctor on the matter and end up having a positive result, I didn’t want to risk having a lesser chances of getting into a college. I would rather stick with a clean record than lowering my chances. But since it doesn’t matter I should go check with the doctor.

@Korean101 How did that person know if it helped him or not? Did the college tell him or are you sure that wasn’t a coincidence?

Your medical records are private, and no college will know anything unless you choose to disclose it. Start with a visit to your doctor, talk about your symptoms and get a referral.
