uh i know this is extremely annoying and people on this site isnt the admin office, but could you just give me a basic break down of what nyu wants. in terms of sat scores, clubs, gpa etc.

i go to brooklyn tech, with an 88 avg. and a 1970 (1340) on the sats. i know its not that fabulous but im going to work at it.

you can have a 100 avg with perfect SATs and get rejected but you can also have a 80ish avg and SAts lower than your and get it. NYU gets more competitive every year. if you want #s for the sat and gpa you will not find that here. The best i can say if work hard and thats it. Do not think just becuase you have above a certain gpa that you will get it because NYU should not be considered a safety.

What theinfocenter said is true, NYU is VERY unpredictable. In my opinion SAT's are probably the most important factor in admissions to NYU. You have a chance at admissions but it would be better if you got your numbers up, esp the gpa.

NYU is very unpredictable, my best friend, got admitted with a 21 on the ACT (equivalent to a 1060 on the SAT) and a 2.5 GPA. However, she had a lot of president posistion ECs and an insanely strong recommendation, and isn't a URM.

My sister is a URM, had a 4.2 GPA, mediocre ECs and a 1450 on the SATs and didn't get accepeted, but did get accepted to Columbia and Brown.

It's incredibly more difficult to estimate your chances then what people on CC are saying.

You can find average SAT scores and GPA for each school on their site.

NYU really is unpredictable. But they do have a tendency to reject applicants who they feel are using them as a safety. And although they won't admit this, based on the results of kids from my HS, it certainly seems like your chances of admission will go up if you'll need minimal or no financial aid. I have a friend who had excellent stats, was of low-income (but not a URM) and was waitlisted to Cornell but flat out rejected to NYU...and MANY kids from my school w/ lower GPA, SATs & less ECs were accepted (but it was to GSP).

My friend from Bronx Science got into GSP w/ a 86 avg & 1380 SATs (GSP), so I think you have a shot at it. NYU likes kids from Tech, BxSci & Stuy kids use it as a safety!
