@girlfromworld1 I applied for biology from FL state college in Jacksonville w/ a 4.0 GPA. I’m also kind of old, a military vet, and native american (although that last bit probably made no difference). My essay I felt was extremely weak, so I’m actually sort of surprised.
@navydoc8406 congrats!
The email my daughter got said there were more than 35,000 applicants for about 5,000 spots. We’re rather expecting to see the white envelope, not the yellow one. :-S
They accept way more than the available slots, usually around 17000 I think. Not everyone chooses to go. Still have hope @LadyArwyn
According to the common data set for 2014-15, last year approximately 31,500 incoming freshmen applied for approximately 6,200 freshman spots. 17,500 of the 31,500 were accepted. It appears that this year there were more applicants (over 36,000 according to the email), but approximately half of the applicants presumably will still be accepted (17,500).
How bad do you think it will be that I have like two punctuation errors in my personal statement. The commas legit looked like periods lol. It’s written like:
With the intent to be honest, I left my bed and walked out of my room with my heart pounding, This was the moment
And
I swallowed in an attempt to brittle down my hot tears and as I made my way back to my room. I was blah blah blah
Really freaking out because in the thing they were like don’t do this blah blah blah like oh my word they seem so strict about essays :’( everything else for essays were flawless and I think were lovely!
Please respond
@beatstanford your thoughts? Or @uwhusky1997 haha
@cmartin12 that doesn’t sound like a big issue. I always keep in mind that my sister two years ago had a major spelling error in her essay and was accepted, so punctuation errors wont be a dral breaker!
I’m sure you’ll be fine. I’m worried as well… My diversity essay was just flat out awful and I will be so suprised if I get accepted lol
I sent online application ( transfer application) 1 month ago. Couple days ago, I visited myuw site to check my application status and I got this one mgs:
After giving your application to the UW Tacoma an initial review, we have determined that one or more documents, supporting materials, or additional information are required before further reviewing your application. All required materials must be postmarked by the application closing date for autumn quarter 2015.
I already sent to uw my current college transcript and shoud I send to uw my official high school transcript? And what happen next?
IF I have to send my high school transcript, can I send it after Mar 15,2015?
This is my first time make transfer to uw. Really need help.
Thanks all.
@uwhusky1997 check your PMS
Acceptance rates will drop because the UW overenrolled the year before. Coupled with the fact that freshman applications (especially OOS) increased, I’m estimating around 50% of applicants will get in this year. That’s still a lot and I’m sure you guys have what it takes.
Just a hunch, start checking your unofficial transcripts with more gusto this week!
http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/demographics-improve-odds-of-getting-into-uw-this-year/
I think this is an old article from last year, but still interesting
What is this with “checking unofficial transcripts” thing? What exactly are we looking at, what are we looking for, and what does it mean?
Goblazers, here’s the follow up article with this year’s data (also interesting):
Actually, the in state acceptance rate rose to 69% from 66-67%.
@ladyarwyn If you log into your UW netID page and click on your unofficial transcript, and it loads, then it means that you’ve probably been granted admission
@cwordsworth12 When do you think people will start seeing the unofficial transcript?
It should be at any point this week or next. They will be sending letters around this time as well.
Anxiously waiting…
Letter arrived today in Seattle. Gold envelope. Good luck everyone!
