Admission application deadlines

So I have not really started at all on any applications but I am pretty sure I can get into a good college with a 3.9 gpa and act scores. I also want to try and get some scholarships. My friend told me that most college application deadlines are november 1st? I am kinda freaking out! What do I do?

Do some research, then come back.

i agree.. and if its Nov. 1st and you plan to write some essays in 5 days and succeed , ill nominate you for the nobel prize

I am not really sure where to begin. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

find out what schools have what deadlines (Nov. 1st, Nov. 15th, or Dec. 1)
then go from there to filling out the app and doing the essay

I just basically put my essay together today for November 1st. I plan on having numerous people look it over to fine-tune it this coming week, but it's definitely doable. Took me maybe half hour tops to get the rough rough draft out.

Alright thanks guys. I am not going to apply to any very selective schools anyway so maybe though were the schools he was talking about having a Nov. 1st deadline.

Ditto what flootloop said- the Nov 1st deadlines are typically for ED/EA apps. January 1st is the earliest for all of my RD schools. Unless you're planning on applying ED/EA anywhere (which it doesn't sound like you are), don't panic- you still have a few months until Jan. :)

For this ed/ea thing, will that get me a better shot at scholarships?

only for EA or ED
regular is usually between jan 1 and like march

A few schools have November 1st ED/EA deadlines.

Most privates have a November 15th-ish EDI/EA deadline; a December 15th EDII deadline, if they offer it; Regular deadlines are usually on or after December 31st.

Also, all your recs, application fee or waiver, and supplements--if the colleges require it--need to be postmarked by the due date. If you're applying for aid at an EA/ED school, you also need to see what their forma are and when they are due.
