@cnikroo As a whole. They can care less what major you put down so long as you don’t go on and describe any seemingly shallow reasons for having the interest (such as the simple “I am pre-med and thus am drawn to biology”) because I am sure that will make you come off as more dull. I would imagine it comes down to the whole package of the applicant and their presentation of their interests and credentials and much less what those specific things are. Given that we don’t have any other schools outside of Oxford and ECAS that admit freshmen, they aren’t going to really take what college major (or nursing/b-school) you put down into consideration. Typically departmental level screening is done at places like Georgia Tech with engineering schools (and several depts of it) or business schools that are 4 year programs. We have neither. My guess in such cases, the faculty in some departments actually play a role in the admissions process.

When don’t admit based on major. On the other hand, I’d recommend you not base you’re entire application on how amazing the business school is (the College doesn’t like the business school and the business school will not be reviewing your application). Also, as Bernie, said, don’t say anything dumb like 1. I want to come to Emory and major in engineering (be clear you’re talking about the 3-2 program and emphasize why Emory is such a good fit–and remember, you have to have a major that’s not engineering at Emory), 2. My background isn’t health related at all, but NBB sounds like a great way to get into med school.
