I just applied Early Decision to CC and I was wondering what my chances are for admission. I scored a 2040 in my SAT (cr 670, maths 710, writing 660) and I have a 4.0 gpa. I scored straight A's ( A* in Economics) in my GCE A Levels exam. I am also ranked 1st out of 100 students in my high school.

For extracurriculars, I play Lawn tennis at the National Level. I have also played guitar for a blues band and I was a member of the school choir, the debate team and the elocution team. I have done some social work in a local school for two years as well.

Could you all please let me know what you think about my chances at Colorado College.

Hey, thanks for all your replies… It’s great to know that my chances for admission are good when not considering Financial Aid. However, I am applying for FA… Quite a hefty amount actually… I stated in my CSS Profile that I could only afford about $ 6,000. Can you all please chance me again now that you have the complete picture?

I am also a little confused about what the FA covers. Does it include everything like living and boarding or only the tuition fees?

Since this is a school that does not meet need and has little money for internationals, they could give you all or nothing or somewhere inbetween.

CC is need-based for internationals.
Your profile looks good, but SAT scores are sorta low.
Once admitted you will get the FA required by you, but I think, on the basis of FA, you don’t have good chances.

According to the Colorado College Common Data Set for 2009-2010, financial aid was awarded to 56 out of 69 enrolled, degree-seeking internationals (81%). The average financial aid package for enrolled internationals who were awarded aid was $44,966.

The OP’s SATs are within the median band for all enrolled first-year students (with Math on the high side, and CR perhaps on the high side for internationals). CC went test-optional this year. They seem to like high-ranking applicants (about 1 in 4 admitted students rank in the top 1%).

I do think the OP looks like a good candidate, but I hope he did not mention participation on the electrocution team. That may be considered a public service in his country but on an application to a liberal school like Colorado College, it would look a little creepy.

Do u think my SAT score- 2040( 670 cr, 710 maths & 660 writing) is too low for admission with Financial Aid at Colorado College? The score falls within the median range but is it enough to have a score in the 25th- 75th percentile to grab a hefty FA?

The only people who can say for sure are the admissions committee members, but as an ED applicant you’ll have their answer soon enough. I doubt it will be a show-stopper though. Even if English is your first language, your scores are respectable. If it isn’t, they are impressive.

My S is a second-year student there and loves it. I hope you will too. Please be sure to share your outcome in the Colorado College forum, o.k.?

I’ve got a list of schools that I am going to send my RD application to but they are all really competitive( some are reach skools). I want to add some safety schools in the mix. Could you all suggest some safety schools for me please?? My stats are posted all the way up in the thread.

If not safety, could you suggest some schools that are less competitive that the ones I currently have on my list?? Some of these schools are Middlebury, Carleton, Bowdoin, Bates and Claremont McKenna.

Wonder when we will hear from Colorado College…? Waiting is hard, but I think right before Christmas. Please post if you hear anything. Thanks! (Applied EA1)

I applied ED so im expecting to hear from CC in the next couple of days… From what I have read in past posts and threads related to CC EA1 decisions, there are two batches of decisions. The first comes out before christmas and usually the best candidates get selected in this round… The second comes in the first/ second week of january( not sure, u shud check past threads)…
