MIT wants to see that applicants have challenged themselves in high school with the opportunities they have. Have I accomplished that? Do I stand a chance at PSM? Thoughts?

@murthy1999 assuming all of that is true/occurs, you definitely have a good shot, but I wouldn’t place all bets - I am sure you know it’s been getting increasingly difficult since more and more excellent students are applying.

@murthy1999 I think you sound pretty outstanding and have a great chance.

Just curious, but are your research and patents and interns and publications also around sustainable development? Having one unifying theme is helpful- that’s what the officers remember you by.

@murthy1999:
If you look at the “Decision” threads for MIT in recent years, you’ll see applicants with stronger profiles than you who were not accepted. Then you’ll also see applicants with weaker profiles than you who were accepted.

If you really want chances, you need to look at MIT’s overall admit rate, which was 7.9% last year, and use that as a reference for your chances.

No one, even the MIT adcoms, are unable to provide you any chance info.

Also;

  1. you don’t add SAT II (subject test) scores- so it’s 800 each, not 2400
  2. you definitionally can’t have a 4.2/4.0. If your 4.2 is weighted than say so (4.2W).

@collegemom3717 I think we all understood what the OP meant including you. Just saying… on CC he can list his stats anyway he’d like. Where are the rules saying he can’t?
