Admission Chances for East Coast Elite Schools

Hi I would like to find out some other people's opinions on my chances for admission at the following schools: UVA, UNC Chapel Hill, Duke University, Georgetown University, Johns Hopkins University, Cornell University, Colgate, NYU, and Princeton.

Personal Stats: 31 composite ACT - plan to improve b/c it was my first try
1300 SAT - Plan To Improve, overall 1920
SAT II's predicted 700-800 for US Hist, Biology, English lit, and Math 1
3.3 Unweighted GPA, 3.56 Weighted
4 AP's Senior Year: US History, AB Calc, Biology, and English
Summer Program at Boston University: Two classes- Creative Writing and Law.
250+ volunteer hours mentoring young children
Volunteering for Democratic Canidate for Colorado House of Representatives
Letter of rec from that dem canidate and two other teachers who are said to write exceptional letters, I've excelled in both of their classes. One of whom graduated from yale.
Other ECs: Health Occupations Students of America Student
and Leadership Clubs for one year each.

ACT is good, but not great for ivies and georgetown.
GPA is way low for these schools
EC’s are okay, but more leadership would be better.

Good luck!

With that GPA, I’d say Princeton, Cornell, Johns Hopkins, Georgetown, and Duke will be extremely unlikely. However, if you get a 4.0 from now on and got a 34+ ACT, then things could change.

Yes I’ve spoken to my college counselor about these things, and she has advised me that those kind of universities are looking less at GPA and Test scores for actual selection but rather just qualification, but showing a drive for your intended major is what actually gets u selected. So I’m hoping that even with my lowely GPA my ECs will help show my drive for poly sci. Also I expect to acheive a 33 or a 34 on the ACT next time i take it. An additional question: will early action/decision help me at all?
