ECs include Boy Scout Senior Patrol Leader, Class president (only 1 year), acting, singing, and altar serving.

As for APs, I have a 5 in World History and will take US History and Literature this May; if all goes well I take Calculus, Eng. Lang, Biology, and CompSci next year.

I am confident I can get good recommendation letters and my essay writing skills are fairly strong.

So, what do you think? Do I have a shot at Bing?

Sure it seems as if you have a good shot. If you go to the thread “You’re the one we want” you will see that stats of those accepted, deferred and rejected and see what you think. Good luck.

Thanks guys, I looked at that thread and it looks like everyone else’s scores and ECs trump mine, and some of those who were deferred were also better than me. So now I might have cause to worry :(

Joshmay, people who use CC tend to have higher stats than the typical applicant. No worries. You have an extremely VERY good chance of getting in, especially since Linguistics and Arabic are not…the most sought-after majors, to say the least.

Thanks dudecollege, I’ve seen your posts on other threads and you seem to know what you’re talking about. As for Ling and Arabic, I eventually want to work for the CIA or gov’t, and yes I realize very few people want to major in it
Thanks again, maybe I’ll see you around campus someday!

My son was accepted into Harpur with a 94 GPA and 30 ACT. He had no AP classes but is taking two college courses this year. He also had very good EC’s - most which he has been involved with for all four yrs of high school.

No sense in worrying about it, imo. You have excellent credentials but getting accepted to any good school is never a sure thing. Just keep doing what you are doing and whatever will be will be. My nephew was rejected at Binghamton. He had a 34 ACT, excellent GPA and both parents are alums. He is at Vanderbilt now.

Thanks, it’s the whole variable of acceptance that worries us all. I’ve heard some EA people getting their letters on Christmas Eve (wonderful gift). But my birthday is just days after Jan 15th, so it looks like I will know either for Christmas or my birthday :)
