Please PM me if any more info is needed, as I am nervous to find out! I applied October 27th I think so hopefully that doesn’t put me at a disadvantage.
If you are in-state and auto-admit via top 7% class rank, getting into Econ will be likely.
I sadly am not too 7%, but I am in-state. Is it highly unlikely to get accepted out of the top 7%? I go to a private school that does not rank, and I am inside the top quarter of my class/applicants. @EngPII
Firstly, UT has changed its criteria to the top 6%, not the top 7%.
On the difficulty of getting in: UT only accepts 39% of its applicants, and only 25% of those students are non-auto admit. Your chances of getting in become significantly lower depending on if you’re 6th out of 100 versus 7th out of 100, and become almost negligible if you’re 25th out of 100. Any where in between 7th and 25th is a toss up, so you really need to be stellar to get in.
On your stats: Your extracurriculars and test scores seem to be average for UT, so the acceptance of your application will probably be judged on your community service, LOR, and essays. My personal opinion would be that while it’s technically possible for you to get in, your chances would be much better if you had better test scores, a higher GPA, and a more relevant extracurricular/essay topic to your major.
@LonghornGirl21 Actually, the top 7% rule still applies for Fall 2018. Top 6% will be for Fall 2019
I think you should be okay. I’m not sure about Liberal Arts, but I applied in Moody & got in with a lower GPA/SAT.
