Okay so I applied to UCF yesterday (12-12-2019) (later than I wanted to but oh well) It is literally my #1 choice, dream school, whatever you wanna call it. But my SAT scores are below their average.
OOS
GPA W- 4.1
GPA UW- 3.9
SAT- 1100
When I graduate I will have 37 DE Credits
EC- Senior Beta Club Chapter Secretary, NTHS Vice president, NHS member, SkillsUSA President (2018-2019), SADD member, SGA representative (9th-12th) Class officer (9th-11th), 4-H camp volunteer for 5 years, 100 hrs of Community service as a fair queen, and church nursery and VBS volunteer for 3 years
I did exceptionally well in my DE courses ( all A’s one B )and I have gotten principals list/honor roll my entire life
I applied for the Fall term but I am ok if I can get into the summer term. I also applied with my major as BSN, and I know that they might change that.
I feel very confident on my personal response answer because I have been through ALOT more than a usual person in my life so far and it has changed me drastically as a person.
I am just posting this because I want to know what you all think my chances are, or if you’ve gotten accepted/deferred/wait listed what were your stats?? Thank you if you even read this!
I think you have a very good chance of acceptance for Summer 2020, and that is just as good as Fall. Our daughter had similar grades and scores and got Summer.
All summer acceptance means is that you must attend a 2-day orientation, and take ONE ONLINE course during Summer B.
I didn’t realize summer admission could mean taking only one on line course. We thought she would have to take at least 2 in residence. Thank you for the info. We’ll look more into it bc we are waiting for admission or not and it may be summer.
Yes. One online course only in the summer. I’ve asked the question multiple times. They should make that clear in the summer acceptance letter, but they don’t.
At some point in her college career, she will have to do 9 hours during a summer term, but that’s not what I’m talking about here. (don’t know if online counts).
Call them again to be sure, and then you have several steps you need to take pretty quickly.
First, you need to pay the $200 registration deposit to lock in her spot.
Second, you need to schedule her for the mandatory Freshman Orientation (2 days), and she has to go to a session for SUMMER, not fall. She will register for her class during Orientation, and there is a parallel orientation for parents (optional, but we’re doing it).
Third, if she’s going to stay in dorms, submit your housing request. Pay careful attention to the dorm rooms because many of them are shared bedrooms and some have 4-5 people sharing ONE bathroom. That’s easy for boys…but not girls.
You will also have to document your Florida residency for tuition purposes (easy 5 minute online form) and at some point she will have to take a math placement test.
Lots to do, but getting through the stupid phone mail is the worst of it.
Wow I had no clue you were able to do online for summer B!! I still haven’t heard back, but they did request my dual enrollment transcripts and they’ve been received, so hopefully that means I’ll be hearing something soon! I’ve been trying to plan all of my summer events around the possibility of getting in for Summer B, but online would make it a lot easier!! Thank you!!
I got waitlisted I really want to go here.
But my stats are:
Weighted: 5.1
Unweighted: 3.1
SAT: 1130
Extracurriculars:
HOSA-
member for 4 years, won awards at the regional level, and I was historian last year and VP this year
NHS-
Member for 3 years
SWAT-
member for 2 years, President this year
SGA-
Member for this year
I also teach 3-5-year-old kids at my church every Sunday and have planned multiple events for over 300 people.
I have won 2 presidential volunteer service awards for the highest tier.
I am also a varsity swimmer and coach’s assistant.
Anyways I know my SAT is really low but I feel as if I have done so many extracurriculars and the kids that got in at my school barely come to school which is really annoying. I’m praying for you though.
