To everyone whose status says “Admission Committee Completed”, which college do you apply to?..

I guess each of you can think that you have a higher chance to get in…or you’ve already got in…

To everyone whose status says “Admission Committee Completed”, which college do you apply to?..

I guess each of you can think that you have a higher chance to get in…or you’ve already got in…

Well, whether it means we got in already or not… we’ll find out in a little over a week…or a bit later.

I have “adcom completed” and I applied to fairly competitive schools, including two ivies. But i’m not expecting to get into many, I just applied to a lot of reach schools, carnegie mellon being one of them.

It would be nice if someone from previous years could verify if having the “admission committee completed” status early means anything :)

but I don’t want to get my hopes up haha

To above poster: I mean…which college in CMU do you apply to?..School of Computer Science or …School of Business or other?..maybe there’s a possibility that the time of making decision is different for different colleges in CMU…

maybe…I haven’t thought of that. I applied to HSS - humanities and social sciences.

…I applied to SCS, maybe one of the most selective colleges in CMU?..

To be honest, with my poor SAT1 score, I do not dare to be eager to receive the acceptance from SCS… However, this day before, I even thought that my application has been withdrawn since I submitted my application after the deadline, but luckily, I found that I’ve received the receipt letter with Admission ID… So…I’m very happy today, regardless of whether I would be in or not…

I’m worried about my low GPA. Well, low stats doesn’t mean the end of the world, even at competitive schools like CMU, because they apparently take so many more things - ECs, essays and etc - into account. Hope you get in! We have less than a month to wait!

:)
3Q

haha…maybe we can meet in person in CMU in this fall…of course, I hope that you can be accepted by more excellent schools, such as ivies…

Good Luck~

I got an update today saying “application complete” which is a little different from what everyone else has but I’m guessing it’s the same thing lol

I prefer to consider that no status like “Admission Committee completed” means that you’ve been put into a special kind of waitlist…including me…

Well here are my two cents: we are possibly less than a month away from receiving decisions, so they probably already started the official meetings to decide who is in and who isn’t. As soon as you go through that process, you see “adcom completed.” It is possible that they already decided on the easy cases(aka likely to get in or not) but it is also likely that it is completely random. Just take solace in the fact that last year CM released decisions before the Ivies, so we may find out decisions in 2-3 weeks.

Also: My page says adcom completed and I applied to 3 schools: computer science, science, and engineering.

rebel2k10: Application complete is not the same as adcom complete. It is actually two steps before. After App complete you get “folder pulled committee read” and then “admissions committee complete”.

He applied to the Carnegie Institure of Technology & Mellon College of Science.

Good luck to all!

If my site says “Admissions Committee Completed” before my mid year report has shown up, that would be good news right? I mean, they wouldn’t reject me before seeing my first semester grades(My GPA/SAT are in the top 25 percentile), but they might accept me before seeing them, if they are confident of the decision.

As has been said multiple times in this thread and the related thread…you’re going to worry yourself sick trying to decipher three words - or the lack thereof on your online file.

Given the fact that there are 25,000+ applicants-- the few anecdotal remarks of 10-15 posters on CC should not be any indication of what is meant by the comments you may see (or not see) on the WAIITP pages.

I point out that for freshman- both admissions and financial packaging are done by the Admissions staff at CMU (there is no separate fin aid group for freshman)…so the “complete” message may refer to financial aid review -rather than the admissions decision.
FYI-- those admitted EA and ED have none of these messages-- it just reads “Decision Notification” and from what I understand - this pool doesn’t yet have financial decisions either. So I think it may refer to the entirety of the file – financial aid in particular rather than your admissions work.

I wish everyone luck- and yes waiting is indeed very difficult with so much at stake-- but wild speculation is an unhealthy activity to engage in at this point.

Two weeks-- much more information will be known.

While you are probably right that I and others are reading too much into this, I am not applying for financial aid, so the complete message does refer to my application for admissions and nothing else.

anon-- that’s not necessarily the case.

The process means there is nothing else remaining to do with a file - financial/merit processing included.

Bottom line-- I don’t think there’s anything to infer- and it’s simply speculation that will drive you insane. With 25,000+ applicants- a handful of posters on CC means nothing.

I offer some thoughts that such messages may simply mean the committee has done all it needs with a file and it may not mean anything else but that.

This is odd, mine says admissions committee completed before they officially received my tax forms. Hope it’s not a bad sign but I’m not going to drive myself crazy about it. shrug For what it’s worth it says 3/3- Admissions committee complete. 3/5 - they updated the tax forms

Mine is completed, but they still haven’t received my tax forms.

I don’t have it :(

Just one question. If one has “Admission Committee Completed” on their application status now, does that mean he/she will be the first ones to receive decisions? (which starts at March 15)

I sure hope that is the case. Mine says Admissions Committee Completed and I can’t wait to hear back from CMU.
