admission conditions/gpa

Just wondering, but is the 3.0 gpa requirement cumulative? And if so, it is only UC approved 'a-g' courses so classes like yearbook or teacher assistant classes doesn't count toward the 3.0 gpa right?

This is what it says on the website:
"Achieve at least a 3.0 GPA (weighted) in your senior year UC 'a-g' coursework and be in "good standing" (minimum 2.0 GPA) in your last term. "

What does the second part mean? As long as you have a 3.0 weighted gpa, it's okay right?
I took some hard classes as a senior so my grades are pretty bad (thanks to ap calc and ap chem)... but among the 4 academic classes I took each semester, I'm still over 3.0 weighted.

thanks in advance

and is that an average or 3.0 or each semester

oh yes, that too (what netsrock asked)
is it 3.0 cummulative or 3.0 per semester?

i think it means 3.0 for the year and 2.0 for the last semester.

I think you can get a definitive answer if you contact the school : <a href=“UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login”>UC Santa Barbara Admissions Portal - UC Santa Barbara Applicant Portal Login;

actually one of the people from my school contacted them. They wouldn’t give her a clear definite answer. I think that they honestly don’t care as long as you get no more than one D and no Fs. but i wouldn’t risk it imo.

I did email them and asked, and now I’m just waiting for an answer…

I’m worried because I have a D in calc (and i emailed and let them and they said they will continue with admission as long as the 3.0 gpa is upheld) and yeah… because of the D in calc, I am missing one point to get a 3.0 gpa in my last semester grades, thus my concern.

hopefully it’s 3.0 whole year and 2.0 last sem

how can it be a 3.0 whole year and 2.0 last semester?

do u mean a 4.0 1st semester and a 2.0 2nd semester which then averages out to a 3.0 ?

ambyroy. that is exactly my point. i got a 4 last semester. i am probably going to be around a 3(probably at or higher).

when i meant 3.0 whole year and 2.0 last sem, i meant AT LEAST 3.0 gpa whole year and AT LEAST 2.0 last sem. not exactly 3.0 gpa average.

…so what did they say?

I am worried because I got a D in my AP psych class…
does it matter that the class is not intended to fulfill one of my requirements…it’s just an extra class…?

i got a reply and they confirmed that it is minimum 3.0 weighted gpa CUMULATIVE.
whew i think i’m safe…
