<p>Hello everyone! I was wondering if anyone else has gone through this admissions appeal process and could share some insight because I'm not really sure what's going on at this point. </p>
<p>Long story short - I applied to transfer to MSU after having only completed one semester at my university and since I had a low GPA, I was rejected. I wanted to try to appeal the decision though because I improved my GPA from 2.5 (what they originally judged me on) to a 3.25. My first semester GPA was really low because I got a pretty bad grade in one of my classes. Although I couldn't include it in my appeal letter because I literally just finished retaking the class I originally did poorly in, I have further improved my GPA to 3.5.</p>
<p>I sent MSU an appeal letter, indicating my improved grades and intention to retake the class, as well as my updated transcript in early May after my second semester grades were available. As of today, I have yet to hear anything from them. According to someone I talked to over the phone from MSU admissions, they were making decisions about appeals on June 25th or 26th, I believe. Should I expect to get some sort of correspondence from them? Or perhaps they will update my status on the application site?</p>

<p>I’m curious to see if you get any information and if you get in. I think they over enrolled for Fall and I know they are really looking at GPA’s . Good Luck and hope things go the way you want them to. I was told they cut 50 students who were originally accepted.</p>

<p>I found out a few days ago that I was accepted to the university! At the beginning of July, I sent them my current transcript and another letter explaining that I was still interested. After waiting about a week, I called the admissions office specifically talked to my admissions counselor. Finally, they contacted me a few days ago to make sure I was still on board to attend and I was officially accepted :)</p>
<p>I haven’t really heard a lot of extra information but I am pretty sure they overenrolled. Just for the fact that they’ve already sold out of football tickets and have had a waiting list for the dorms for months now.</p>

<p>And there is always a waiting list for the dorms because freshmen and current residents have first priority…</p>
<p>Then maybe they didn’t over enroll…</p>
<p>I was just speculating on stuff I’ve seen. Since I didn’t go there last year, I don’t know what’s commonplace or not for these sorts of situations.</p>

<p>I’m not sure what you mean. There is always a possibility of overenrollment. They overenrolled last year. But really, we won’t know final numbers until people actually move in and I haven’t heard any rumblings to say that they overenrolled.</p>

<p>Right now the reason why housing is in the waiting list is because of the undergoing renovations of one or two of the Brody dorms (where most freshmen are housed). I did hear rumors of RA’s (resident mentors) having to have roommates this year which also points to the potential for overenrollment, but this stuff is relatively uncertain until everyone starts moving in.</p>
