Admission decision for Fall 2017 help

Univ of Minn says their admission decision will come by Jan 31 2017.

Does anyone know if they are a rolling admissions? Does not say ON Jan 31st, but instead BY Jan 31st.

@Lewis14 we were wondering the same thing! In the past they said that if you applied by the Priority (Dec. 15th) Deadline you would receive your decision by February. However, many with very strong applications heard back much sooner (usually beginning in Oct. or so). Some would apply and then get an acceptance w/in a few days! There is no guarantee the same will happen this year. Everything’s been pushed forward but not clear at all what the timing will be in terms of a decision.

There’s really only one way to find out and that’s to apply and see what happens. :smiley: Perhaps if anyone is contacting Admissions in the near future they get the scoop on this question.

they are rolling! I applied in early september and heard back in mid November :slight_smile:

They were rolling and I hope they continue to be. Things might be different this year with the new deadline(?). D3 is attending a couple of sneak previews over the next several days so we’ll be sure to ask them and post the response.

@mamelot are you going to the STEM sneak preview on Monday? We are attending that event!

Thank you @mamelot for posting what you learn after your sneak preview.

Someone I know received this response from UMN saying "Students who apply by the November 1 priority deadline will receive a decision sometime before January 31st. They may come in the fall or winter, however, we are able to guarantee that it will be sometime before January 31. "

@dancermom79 I wish!!! D3 has a good chance of being accepted but engineering isn’t her thing. More interested in Econ/Finance so we are attending the CLA this Fri. and the CSOM next Friday (19th).

@Lewis14 that actually sounds like they plan to roll out acceptances like in prior years. Thanks for posting that very valuable info!

Anyone have experience as to average stats necessary to get into CSOM Human Resources Management?

Here are the stats by college:

Thank you. Do you know if there are stats for a specific major within the CSOM as you apply specifying a business major? In our case HR.

UMN admits by college not major. On the application they ask what major you are interested in so that you choose the appropriate college to apply to. You get a first choice and a backup choice.

Once you are in CSOM you will have certain prerequisites you must fulfill in order to declare a major but that’s going to be true for any choice of study.

Today my daughter and I attended the CLA Sneak Preview and I spoke directly to the Admissions Office. They confirmed that acceptances are still rolling this year.

@Mamelot Thank you!
