Admission Decisions and Personal Selection

So I'm a Male, Caucasian student at a California Community College in Redwood City called Cañada College. I am an Econ Major and attain a G.P.A. of 3.38. This is my fourth semester as I already applied to transfer to most of the U.C.'s. I am an Econ Tutor and have also taught a review class of about thirty students and made that clear in my personal statement (which was written last minute whilst intoxicated). (There might be a few grammar errors, I'm too nervous to look) I have quite a few W's on my record, but all received earlier in my academic career. My personal statement is about my ability to adapt, change, and grow, which helps explain my early failures and favors my present argument. I have A's in all of my core subjects except for Calculus. Macro: A, Micro: A, Englsh: A, Acctng: A, Statistics: A, but I have C's in Calc 1 and Calc 2. Other than that all of my requirements are fulfilled for UC IGETC. I love Economics but don't know where it will take me in the future, so I figure I might incorporate an emphasis in accounting and grab my C.P.A. certification when I graduate. My questions are; What is the likelihood of my getting into UCSB, UCD, UCSC, UCLA, UCSD, on a scale of 1-10? What school would you recommend for my interests seeing that I do enjoy partying and having a good time, but value my growth in Economics and Accounting. Finally, when do you think I will hear back from each particular school? Thanks

Plenty of opportunity for Econ/Accounting combo but note, a CPA is not a drive by designation. At most schools, it had evolved into a 150 semester unit (10 semesters @15 units) curriculuum.

A 3.38 is a solid GPA and should get you into UCSB, UCSC and probably UCD - asssuming you met the requirements. I can’t say how the Ws etc will impact your chances. A TAG to one of the campuses would have been a great idea.

Good luck.
