Anxiously awaiting the first wave of Honors College notifications this week!
I was just looking at last year’s posts and the first post was somebody in North Carolina on 12/19. The notifications were sent in regular mail and the envelope was the same size as the YES one for their acceptance. There was also a change on the portal around 12/20 indicating an Honors College event. It seemed like a relatively small number of students were notified this week, so not to despair if you don’t get one this week.
Called today, they told me that my letter was sent out on the 10th, however I should expect it no later than Thursday. Weird how long it takes to be mailed.
accepted with these stats:
1290 SAT/28 ACT
4.5 W gpa
xc/track runner
geophysics major
GA resident
Hispanic female
at least 40,000 dollars for scholarships and in state tuition
I got my packet today. Was deferred from UGA. UofSC and LSU are my top choices. Lsu is 5,000 dolars cheaper. No honors college at UofSC. Should I wait to hear back from UGA? Or is it not worth it… It will cost the same as USC or LSU.
Just to let you know, one of my sons friends got his today and the letter was dated last Thursday. We are in the upstate of SC, hoping for ours in the mail tomorrow.
Admissions said daughters letter msiled on 12th. Still not received here in upstate SC but the portal updated tonight and she was accepted into the College of Arts and Sciences Cardiovascular Techician program! She checked earlier today and nothing had changed but by the evening, it updated. Wish we had the YES envelope for pictures though! She’s already accepted & placed her deposit bc this was her #1.
I still haven’t heard back in CT and was told that my letter was sent out on December 10th. What should I do? I called admissions yesterday and they told me to wait till the 20th and hope for the best. 10 days to send a letter is kind of crazy! 2 people from my school have already received decisions, whereas the rest of us haven’t heard anything.
We are in the lowcountry SC and still nothing! So disappointing! We DM’d admissions on twitter to make sure they have all info, and they came back saying that “we have everything and a letter was sent out”. Wondering if the deferred letters are last, and then they go on break? This whole teasing is ridiculous! Both my husband and I are alums and really disappointed in this whole process.
@macusc I don’t think that if you haven’t received a letter yet you haven’t gotten in. My letter was sent out on the 10th according to admissions, but I haven’t received anything yet, but my friends letter was dated the 12 and she got in. Its a very confusing (and stressful process).
@tc1207 congrats on your daughter’s acceptance. Do you know how big the cardiovascular tech program in terms of student enrollment size? Is the cardiovascular tech program suitable for someone who is interested in pre-med?
@rockinthaboat35 - honestly - $5k/year is A LOT of money over 4 years and if you like both equally then there is really no reason to take extra loans out. The nice thing is, you don’t have to decide immediately.
Also, double check your scholarship detail - you got $40,000 AND in-state tuition? That is more unusual than what I have seen on here and on their site, it may be $40,000 toward tuition making it an out of-state tuition reduction but not true in state tuition.
Does anyone know if they would assign you a VIP ID if you weren’t accepted? I can see where you can say you forgot your password for your VIP ID and I did that and I have one but haven’t received a acceptance letter yet. Wondering If I would have been assigned one if I wasnt accepted? Hopeful thinking??
@bjo114 I think that you get a VIP ID if you were accepted, I clicked the button that said that I forgot my VIP ID, and it gave me VIP ID. So maybe that means I got in?
