ADMISSION DECISIONS FALL 2016 (CLASS OF 2020)

Just thought I would start a new discussion to see if any incoming freshman students have received an admissions acceptance or deferral from Tulane for the 2016 Fall semester? Please comment to this thread either way. Good luck to all!

See post #5 for the template for information upon finding out if admitted.

My daughter was admitted today. SAT:2130 GPA:3.9 unweighted/4.4 weighted. Her application was marked as complete on October 14. We are so excited!

Sounds like it was an easy decision for Tulane with credentials like that. Congrats to her! Time to celebrate!

Thank you so much. We are definitely celebrating. I will be interested to hear other results now that decisions are being posted.

Congrats @NashvilleTNMom and D. Good to know the decisions are starting to go out.

I will remind everyone now that the decision about merit scholarships only comes with the paper notification through the regular mail. These scholarships required no additional application, all students are considered. They will range from $10K - $32K, unless they decided to bump them up this year.

The full tuition scholarships require another application due December 5 this year. That is 10 days earlier than in the past. They also require that you apply EA or SCEA, which have an application deadline of November 15.

Here’s the template for anyone else that finds out. I figured we could use this since these threads have helped me (and I’m sure others) A LOT. Anyplace you see a space between the bracket [ and the next character you need to remove the space.

does tulane send an email when you get in or did you just check gibson?

Just check Gibson. They send hard copy letter that contains scholarship info, if you got one. Gibson won’t show that.

Keep checking Gibson, that’s the first place that the decision is posted. The letter doesn’t come for several days or a week later via snail mail!

Congrats to student07151. I have to laugh when students think that a 32 ACT is a weakness as that puts you in the top 2% of students in the country. You sound like an amazing student who will be a perfect addition to the Tulane family. How did you find out about your scholarship so fast? I thought those were supposed to come out weeks after the Gibson acceptance.

Congrats to those who have already heard.

My D has not heard yet. Hopefully soon. She has a 3.86 unweighted and 32 ACT. I’m more nervous than she is!

@Illinoisdad16

No, the snail mail often goes out that same day, and so can show up pretty quickly. Almost never longer than one week.

[
]Where else you are applying or have already applied:
[li]General Comments/Advice/Hindsight: I was quite surprised to get a decision so quickly, because I just submitted my application 4 days ago. Super excited to join the Tulane family! Good luck to all those who have applied.[/li][/ul]

I found out through my application acceptance letter

4 days ago? HOLY MOLY.
You are very lucky !

That is fast, but sometimes the admissions people have everything in the file well before that and are just waiting on the last document to complete the application officially. Also I have noticed that when some students just seem like a perfect fit, they get quick turnaround. So in this case she seems ideal for Tulane. Very strong grades and test scores, but not at the level that is likely to get into an Ivy type school. Sorry to be so blunt, but that is Tulane’s niche for about half the student body or more. Great smart students but not quite with the stats for those other schools. Of course then Tulane also gets the Ivy stat students for about 10-20% of the class because of great scholarships or simply a desire to attend Tulane.

That’s how is always seemed to shake out to me, anyway. Also, being from Sri Lanka probably allowed for more attention.

We are also anxiously awaiting a decision. My daughter checks Gibson several times a day.
Does Tulane release decisions over the weekend on Gibson or should we just stop checking until Monday?

My son received his notification on a Sunday afternoon.

This may be a dumb question but I submitted my application on Oct. 15; how fast can I expect a decision?
