Many applicants have contacted us recently wondering when Fordham will be mailing admission decisions. Currently, we are planning on mailing the bulk of admissions decisions so that students will hear from us on or about April 1st.

This year, Fordham has seen a 20% increase in applications. This marks the 15th straight year that applications have increased. Even with 18,000 applications, Fordham remains committed to providing each applicant a thorough review. In the coming days, our final Admission Committee meetings will be held and final admission decisions reached.

Thank you for your continued interest in Fordham and watch your mail for our decision around April 1st.

did you apply early action or regular decision? I ask because I applied early action and I was deferred, but i never received that email from them... Do you think thats a bad sign?

I applied RD, but I'm not really sure what to make of the email. I remember going on Fordham's FAQ page a long time ago and asking them when we would be notified of our admission decision. So, it may be in response to that... I'm not sure. I definitely don't think it's a bad sign since the email only mentions that we will be notified of our decision around April 1. It doesn't seem like a "likely letter" or a "likely email" to me. What are your stats, Paris87 and applicant2006, if u don't mind me asking. I'm starting to doubt myself since April 1 will be here before we know it!

jenlib: I thought everyone received this email too. Here are my stats:
SAT: 1200/1600 or 1950/2400--Pretty low... It really sucks that the writing isn't being counted this year since it was by far my highest score (750)! Maybe they'll look at it...
GPA: 3.8/4.3
great recs
great essay
lots and lots of ecs

18,000 apps and a 20% year-to-year increase is very impressive. I have to guess that Fordham is being viewed as a way to get a high quality education in NYC without the insanely low chances at Columbia and, increasingly, NYU.

Another important factor is that Fordham is expanding at both Rose Hill and Lincoln Center. At RH they At LC Fordham unmasked sometime last year a multi-year project that will last until roughly 2020...massive expansion. At RH they're finishing up the new multi-floor parking lot and my guess is that the old lot will be demolished to make room for a med school I'm willing to put money on that, lol.

I guess what Im trying to say is that all these expansion projects allow for an overall higher student capacity, which in turn allows the school to be more selective and garner higher prestige. The higher the prestige, the more students want to attend, and so on

Another med school would really surprise me. Fordham had one and they closed it decades ago. Same with the pharmacy school.

I can't imagine they'd commit big $$$ to opening another medical school. It would have to cost tens of millions of dollars.

Then, again, who knows?

When I was a Fordham undergrad back in the 80s, I made extra money by working for the Fordham Fund -- calling Fordham grads and soliciting contributions to the annual fund. I dreaded pulling up a form for an alum of the pharmacy school. They NEVER donated, instead complaining that Fordham closed the pharmacy school. :) I never had to call an alum of the medical school; those calls probably would have gone the same way. :)

I never knew they had a pharmacy school, interesting.. I've noticed that more pharmacy schools are at public universities and colleges than private ones.

I don't think the email means anything. People who signed up on their mailing list probably got it and others didn't. I got the email but it's not even a specific email, just a general reminder that decisions are coming in April.

I agree w/ somagreen... I posted the email mainly because of the statement about the 20% increase in applications. Fordham probably just sent it to justify the fact that they may be late in sending out acceptances since they had such a large increase in apps.
