Accepted in state
EE major
2040 SAT
23%
400~ volunteering hours

it’s so…improbable. I applied literally last minute.

SoccerGuy7, I applied on November 25th and they got all my things on December 1st. I have a feeling though that they did not bother to look at my things because there was no class rank for me, just a letter from my counselor saying my school does not rank. A friend of mine also got rejected but since he is a texas resident, he got capped. His stats were:

1940 SAT (760 Math, 640 Reading, 540 writing)
IB diploma as well, doing extremely rigorous courses
President of Senior class and National Honor Society
Varsity Tennis, Track and Volleyball
Over 200 hours of Community Service
3.47 cumulative gpa (He was an auto-admit to Texas A and M)
Texas Resident who applied for Mechanical Engineering

Im surprised that you got a decision so early being an international student. everyone else is still waiting.I applied on 29th Nov, so im guessing ill get a decision pretty late. Just hoping a 2170 is enough to get me into EE.

im still waiting too… damn it

still in review :(

My son’s portal shows he was accepted! There is no information, though, about acceptance into LAH. The honors tab still shows “application completed” only. Should the portal show LAH acceptance as well?

@redacademy Congratulations! I believe that LAH notification comes by mail.

I got CAPPED
I’m more angry than I am upset just because I’ve been accepted to every one of my 12 schools applied to but not UT (most of which are deemed harder to get into). I go to a private school, 90 kids in my grade.

32 ACT 2100 SAT
3.92 GPA and top 25% my class (my school doesn’t rank but I know i’m at least that if not higher)

I went to a writing camp over the summer and my essays were really good (one creative one about my Dyslexia)
I’m taking almost all AP and Honors classes and have for almost all of high school.
I’ve played 4 years of soccer, Varsity football, varsity cross country, and I’m even my school’s mascot.
My teacher recommendations were probably better than most.
I took a math class over the summer to get ahead of my grade level.

Somehow I didn’t get into UT. I applied in August and had everything in really early. I applied to Chemical Engineering and Natural Science (Undeclared). Over the past year I’ve been to three of my local UT admissions centers for meetings and presentations and all that junk etc.

My point is, I just feel like my scores were great, my essays were great and genuine/ unique, and my extra circ. were fairly heavy. I don’t want to pull anything here but I do want to add i’m a white male. I had strongish intentions of going to UT but I guess they missed out on an eager, smart, and enthusiastic student and lost me to someone who probably isn’t as qualified.

Just appeal but don’t be bitter. I hit capped too, everyone worked hard ok. Do not say they weren’t as qualified cause ut didn’t think so.

UT plays the yield game like every other University and you have answered the “why” question with your own words. On Apply Texas when you put down where else you were applying, it is very probable that UT knew you would get into these “better” schools and therefore, they would not be your first choice. So better to cut you loose, then have you decline their offer. They want to fill their class and if they are up against HYP, then they know they probably don’t have a chance. So sometimes your awesomeness (especially with private school education, since privately schooled HS students are more than likely to go to private Universities) in conjunction with your other college choices, paved the path you are now walking on.

@conhahn jw what were the 12 schools that you applied to. Because honestly, your score are good but they could be better. There are so many people that UT takes in and looks at holistically. For instance, I got a 2250 on my SAT and have 14 AP’s under my belt with only one 4. I’m in the top 11% in a batch of 1336 students from an extremely competitive in state school. I have extremely strong debate credentials (ie state finalist for 2 years and national qualifier and Tournament of Champions qualifier) but in the end I got waitlisted through the PACE program. Obviously there are students that get taken in who have comparatively lower scores, but they apparently have something else that makes them click.

@conhahn I would also be interested in hearing what 12 schools you applied for.
@mehh1234 Sorry to hear you got waitlisted :frowning: I am one of those students who got in with a fairly lower score compared to yours, but I had strong EC’s closely related to my major. You’ll do fine wherever you go though!

Heh. I got pace with only 1670. Top 50%. Life is good.

@annie2018 can i be u

Wow @annie2018

@conhahn I am sorry. ((hugs))

@mehh1234 - what were your first and second choices for major? PACE seems odd for your stats.

First choice was McCombs (undeclared) second was chem.engineering . Lol yup I was surprised I got pace also …
