This is what the link says: Some really interesting changes this year. Thank you @TexasMum for posting.

Completing 2014 Summer/Fall Freshman Decisions

By the end of this week, the Office of Admissions at UT Austin will have made and delivered all 2014 summer/fall freshman admission decisions. As we complete this process, applicants will be able to learn of their decisions online through MyStatus (see below), and official letters will go out by mail soon.

Here are some details about what students will find out in the next few days:

Admission offers. Once all decisions are delivered, about 15,000 students will have been offered admission to Texas ’18. Hook ’em, Horns!
Deadline to accept admission: May 1
Major selection. To complete their admission offers, we’re asking some admitted students to select from available majors. This is a new process; see below for details.
Deadline to select a major: March 14
PACE & Wait List: Several hundred applicants will be invited to participate in an updated version of Path to Admission through Co-Enrollment (PACE), our co-enrollment program with Austin Community College. All of these students have also been placed on the wait list; there is no separate wait list process this year.
Deadline to submit PACE agreement and accept PACE admission: May 1
CAP: Many Texas applicants will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) during the 2014-2015 academic year. In order to receive a CAP offer, a Texas applicant must meet the CAP enrollment requirements of at least one participating UT System university.
Deadline to submit CAP agreement: May 1 for most campuses; April 1 for UTSA
Spring offers. A few Texas applicants will be offered admission to the spring semester (if they qualify for automatic admission but didn’t complete their applications by the deadline).
Deadline to accept spring offer: October 1
Denied admission. Some students will hear that their application for admission has been denied.
MyStatus Offers Details
Applicants can learn of their decisions by using their UT EID and password to log in to MyStatus. On the Admission tab, students will find details along with a list of to-do items they should complete.

New for 2014:
Major-Selection Process for Some Admitted Students
To finalize some admission offers, we’re asking some students to select a major from those with available space. These students are those to whom we were not able to offer admission to their requested first-choice majors because of space limitations. We’re hoping that adding this step will help students make good decisions about their future as Longhorns.

Students asked to select a major will have until March 14 to complete the process. Any student who doesn’t make a selection by that deadline will be offered admission to the Undeclared major in the School of Undergraduate Studies. Like all admitted students, they have until May1 to accept admission.

Major-Change Requests after Enrollment
The University is implementing changes that will put limits on the ability of enrolled students to request major changes. In many cases incoming students will not be able to change majors during orientation or to request changes during their first semester on campus. Admitted students with questions about major changes should contact their UT Austin admissions counselors before April 15.

Contacting Admissions
In addition to the excitement they feel, many students – even those offered admission to one of the best universities in the world – struggle with the decisions they must make about their future. For advice and assistance, the Office of Admissions encourages students and families to contact Admissions with questions or concerns. They can:

Use our Counselor Finder to contact the UT Austin admissions counselor that serves their high school.
Stay in touch with admissions representatives through the admission centers in their area.

February 20, 2014

Don’t read too much into things - UT didn’t email this; all students got it from High School’s Guidance counsellor.

OH MY GOODNESS

@TexasMum so there might not actually be a wave tomorrow. I am confused, can you please explain what you mean? Thanks!

I was responding only to the concern expressed that perhaps UT had been selective about sending out this update. According to the UT website, all decisions will be released by the end of the week. Good luck to all!
