Admission deposit question for ED1 admits

My son was admitted to Emory ED1 and we paid the admission's deposit online within 2 days of the notification. We sent the signature sheet the following day and a week later (in December) received a letter from Emory thanking us for his admissions deposit. Today, my son was cleaning out his email box and found one from Emory, dated January 13, saying that he had not yet paid his deposit and reminding him that it was due on the 15th. Huh?

We went onto his OPUS account and for the account it say balance due: -$475. What does this mean? Minus $475.? On the to do list it says 2 items and the detail page says Admission's Deposit Paid - Completed.

What does everyone else's page say after they paid the deposit? Is there some issue? Should I call tomorrow and check on this?

Same thing on yours. I paid mine almost immediately after my acceptance, and I got the same email as you on that day. So I emailed them about it, and apparently it was just a bad wording on their part. Here’s their reponse

Chris,

Thank you for your message. Please know that yesterday’s email was sent as a reminder only. As you can see through your OPUS account, we have received your admission deposit. I sincerely apologize for any confusion caused by this email. We look forward to having you on campus this fall! Have a wonderful day.

If you wanna make sure though, I would email or call Emory about it

A “mnus” balance is a credit, i.e. confirmation that the deposit has been credited to his Opus account. Later on when the charges hit, that minus balance will reduce the amount payable!

OH! Thanks so much, that is exactly what I was hoping to hear!
