3.87 UW and 4.4 W
5 APs, 7 Honors
28 ACT
VERY involved in one particular activity and I really believe that’s what got me in in the end. I auditioned for the theatre program and when I got in they emailed me that they would push for my acceptance to the school (so that’s obviously another reason why).

Lots of community service, including a missions trip to South Africa junior year.

Accepted!
3.7 UW and 3.9 W
2180 SAT
National Merit Finalist
4 years of choir, 4 years of musical theatre, 2 years of tennis, senior class council, VERY involved at church (not CoC)
Essays were strong, and I imagine my rec letters were too.

Still not sure if I will attend. I’m debating between Pepperdine and another Christian school in SoCal.

Hello all. I’ve been watching CC for a while, and I feel like I could provide a nice contrast to the current posters for future students applying to Pepperdine. As in, college admission is not just stats. I feel like CC has a way of attracting overqualified zealous parents with an idea of what an applicant should or needs to look like to be accepted. So here is my take.

Accepted.

GPA Unweighted: 3.16 (fairly competitive high school)
SAT: 2060
Classes: AP and Honors for the most part.
Mixed race, although I almost guarantee that the combo didn’t help.

EC:
President’s Service Award - Bronze
Eagle Scout
Editor positions in school newspaper
XC/Track four years
Involvement with Christian Club/my church (not CoC)
Other various things, PM if you want to discuss or wish for more details

Basically, my point is that as long as your essay and stuff relates to Pepperdine, it’s not impossible to be admitted. For example, my Eagle Project was quite sizable, and while I wasn’t thinking about colleges when I completed it, it’s really those types of things that can work into a great essay in my opinion. Don’t get discouraged if you are a strong candidate overall, yet your stats, in my case my GPA, are not top notch.

Best wishes and good luck to any future applicants.

My essay was “A significant experience.” It was probably my best piece, comparing my yearly trip to the same beach to Wordsworth’s “Tintern Abbey” and Yeats’ “Personal Helicon” (Christian themed)

The recommendations were done by Business and technology/architecture teachers, the two that I’ve, had since freshman year. From what I’ve seen and been told, they were spectacular.

GPA: 3.7
ACT: 27
Took the hardest classes my school had to offer. I didn’t play any sports, but I’m heavily involved in my church and have been on 5 missions trips overseas.

My admission’s essay was about my affiliation with an organization in India (the country of my mother’s origin) and their work to spread the gospel.
