Admission for Home-schoolers

Hello! :) Just became a member of this forum, and feeling slightly dizzy! A quick question, if I may? Or am I lost and am posting at the wrong place?

Anyway here it goes:
I am a home-schooler, gr 10, and while searching for what is needed in college admissions I was left wondering what I should do with the School Grades and Mid-terms, and the parts where the counsellor is supposed to finish. I am not a member of a homeschooler's association, it's just basically "home"schooling, just at home and learning things from my parents or by myself with workbooks and stuff.. I have attended school for grade 8 and grade 9 so I do have teachers who will write the recommendation letters for me, but I don't have, and will not have, the grades for 10, 11 and 12, and plus no counsellor.

Please help!

You can search this homeschool dedicated forum for advice

[Home Schooling and College - College Confidential](http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/home-schooling-college/)

Also, most college websites have clear directives for homeschool applicants. Good luck.

Firstly, most colleges don’t require rec letters. For those that do, you’ll need independent (i.e. not family) writers who can attest to your academic ability. These should be people who have known you optimally in 11th or 12th grade, less so someone in 10th grade and even less is 9th. 8th is not acceptable.

Who could this person be? An instructor at a community college? An employer/supervisor where you do academic work?

Oooh X) Thanks… Didn’t see that one. I’ve been surfing through the college websites, one after another, and I guess I missed the links and tabs in some of them.

Thank you! :)

Here’s an example

[Home-Schooled Applicant Guidelines : Stanford University](http://www.stanford.edu/dept/uga/basics/requirements/home_school.html)

All I did was google “Stanford admissions homeschool”

(have no idea if Stanford interests you at all)

Oh, so that’s how you find it! Thank you… It’ll save a lot of work, I think, haha.

And yes, of course I’m “interested” in Stanford, but it’ll cost a lot of money and I am furiously looking for need-blinds that include internationals… which is quite rare, it seems. :’)
