Admission for Transfer Student

Mays doesn’t tell you anything, no matter how desperate you sound. Trust me I tried.

amezquita05, do you still have nothing on you’re Howdy portal?

I’m still on Step 3, Economics LA applicant… I sent in my spring grades yesterday, I’ll have 64 credits now…

Is this a good thing, to be on step 3?

And also am I out of luck with financial aide? Can i still apply this summer?

splinter - I sent in my spring grades in yesterday as well. I’m hoping being on step 3 is a good thing although it could be one of those wherever you’re application is in the application stacks type of thing. Here is what I hope:

(This is just my speculation)

Last week of April - Those who exceeded all expectations

May 5 -12 - Those who needed to possibly send in spring grades by June. That would be those who lacked one or more courses, had too few hours (less than 24), or simply had no chance at all.

May 15- 22 - Acceptances? I say that because maybe the big envolopes take longer to pack and it takes longer to register new future aggies in the systems. Eventhough it was last year, most of the people I knew in summer school that transfered to TAMU found out very late. I remember when I posted back in April on how an official joked that the later you hear back the better, maybe that official wasn’t kidding.

July- Those in the May 5-12 applicant pool are reviewed and then selected.

Nothing on Howdy blacklag. Hope it shows up soon so I can start taking care of my things.

Anyone else get a really poor aid package? I got about $6,000 less a year than what SWT offered me. Their cost of attendance is quite a bit lower too. A&M left me with about $3000 of unmet need according to them. Also, I don’t see any Aggie Assurance grants in my package.

agfa, what was your efc and your adjusted gross income on your fafsa? My efc was like $6000 i don’t think i will get much aid and I pay for my school.

blackag, I’m still on step 3 as well for economics…didn’t someone post earlier that the later you hear the better? i sure am hoping so

It might just depend on the school; I’m not sure later is better or worse. Has anyone applying to Mays heard yet? They’re the most selective from what I’ve heard so it would make sense that they are slower.

Step 3 (Mays)

I can see everything now on the Howdy my record tab. Transfer admit to Dwigtht Look College of Engineering Mechanical Engineering (lower). 56 credit hours. Can anybody see what classes the credit hours are for? Financial aid is not working. Send in my spring grades and AIS put me back on step 2 and it said your application will not be considered. Called them and said don’t worry your application is completed and letter should be out soon.

This sucks. It looks like most of the ME classes are full already. Looks like I’m calling and advisor again.

Inter89- I have not heard back yet. Im still on step 3. Today is officially mid May so… Im expecting some kind of feedback.

Just got off the phone with admissions rep. a lot of what she said was interesting. She said people still on step 3 are expected to hear within the next 5-7 business days. They (Tamu) are really behind this year due to the large applicant pool. Its not a good or bad thing at this point to be on step 3 it just means that they just haven’t completed your applicantion (this year was really competitive). I asked why some have heard already, she said that those who had highest GPA etc. found out first ( like I suspected). Decisions both denials and acceptances will go out at the same time. As far as the message in the AIS its primarily intended for those who didn’t have enough hours. The lady I talked to had a really low and raspy voice. So I guess we are in for another week or so…

Yeah all of the lower level ME classes are full. Let me know what you can find out about that.

EFC was $2500. I’ve been unemployed since August also. Guess it’s time to appeal the aid package. I’m going to stop by the financial aid office next week and talk with them in person. I can’t really find anything regarding Aggie Assurance for transfers other than we are eligible this fall.

so I’m still on step 3, but it shows all the registration options on my howdy…so I’m assuming I’m in if I can look at purchasing parking permits and things like that?

That’s how it worked for me. Took almost a week before AIS went to step 4/5 after I saw the registration options.

On my howdy portal on the applicant tab my financial aid status says status: Action required Is anyone else getting that message?

Yeah it shows up on mine too. It’s because we haven’t been admitted yet. If you click on ‘Action Required’ it tells you:

“Admissions Status - Document Requested
Your admissions status does not allow us to offer you financial aid at this time. Please check the admissions website https://applicant.tamu.edu for more information about your application status.”

It kinda sounds like the ‘document requested’ is a transcript with spring grades doesn’t it? I thought we were told to ignore that alert if we were still on step 3…

There’s actually a document you have to fill out on the financial aid portal to make the document requested message go away.

https://myfinancialaid2.tamu.edu/form.aspx?form=DATA

That’s the student data form.
