I live pretty far from Andover and going all the up there just for an interview would be hard espically during the school year. I know that you can interview with an alumni in your area, but i was wondering if that would lower your chances of getting in. And is it possible to do your interview on Skype with an actually AO?

Yes, there are ways you can get your interview done. The most logical way is by Skype, to me. There are also phone interviews and alumni interviews, and I don’t think any of these alternatives should decrease your chances of being accepted.

"And is it possible to do your interview on Skype with an actually AO? " i don’t think so, not for PA. with other schools, ie deerfield, yes

if it’s possible to go visit PA, i would definitely recommend it. they get thousands of applicants and lots of them absolutely love the school and visit it (even if circumstances are difficult), not to mention if you really impress an AO, when they’re making admissions decisions the AO will maybe advocate for you. on the other hand, if you do an alumni interview, all the admissions office will receive, no matter how stellar the interview went, is a slip of paper with their feedback on it.

also, i don’t know how often this happens, but my andover alumni interviewer didn’t really seem to like the school. he didn’t say anything negative about it, but he said that andover wasn’t worth it, in his opinion idk, but when your interviewer tells you something like that it makes the situation a little bit awkward…

Andover senior right here…
i would strongly recommend that you visit and have an on-campus interview. Not only does it show your strong interest in attending PA but it is also a great chance to see what Andover is like
