Does everyone who gets offered admission get an interview? (if you don't get an interview, is it more likely you will get rejected?).

I applied for RD mid-November and have not gotten a call for an interview but I've heard of others who applied later get interviews.

If it helps, my basic stats:
Girl from out of state applying to Bioengineering
GPA: UW 3.7 / W 4.5
ACT: 34 comp. (ENG: 33 / MAT: 34 / READ: 33 / SCI: 34)
Approx. 12-13% class rank (very competitive school and area)
Member NHS, lettered as an academic scholar
Usual EC's: Girl Scouts, Soccer, several ongoing volunteer activities

People say that it is not an indicator at all. But, DS’ interviewer made the comment that since he has an interview, he hasn’t already been ruled out :-)

“since he has an interview, he hasn’t already been ruled out”

Exactly! I’m thinking it can’t be good that you don’t get an interview.

What are your son’s stats (basic) if you don’t mind my comparing.

Don’t worry! I didn’t get an interview and I was still admitted! Seven people from my high school applied and six of them were interviewed, but I wasn’t. Interviews are really a chance for both parties to understand the applicant and his or her interest in Penn. IMHO, I think it’s better to not have been chosen for an interview because it could mean one of two things: you’re admitted or denied. I would personally feel more stressed about having an interview, because it could mean that admissions are on the fence about my admittance. Then again, I don’t really know. That’s just my two cents. Don’t sweat it! :)

I wasn’t offered an interview either, but was accepted as well. There’s no need to worry.

Don’t panic, you can’t read anything into not getting an interview because there are so many reasons that could happen. It is just some hope, that if you have one you haven’t been eliminated yet.

His stats are kind of irrelevant at this point as he is already a junior. Also, I don’t even remember the specifics at this point. But I know his SAT was either 2240 or 2250.
