Admission into Med/Pharm/Dental school

I'm going to Grinnell College, where it is difficult to have a high GPA but happens to be a somewhat obscure, but top ranked LAC. Would medical school or pharmacy school admissions be familiar with it (or make an effort to look at the academic rigor?) or just write it off as a school they've never heard of? A survey taken a couple years ago said the average GPA is a 3.2. My high school GPA was a little above average but my ACT was right there with the median students, so that's a little measure of how I think I will perform at this school.

But those schools are just possibility... more than likely, I think I will start working right away. How is GPA treated in professional circles? Do employers actively examine the colleges people go to? Some people have told that they don't care and a degree is a degree. But that actually scares me a little... because then I'll have a relatively low GPA and no name recognition to go with it - because I can see how a low GPA at MIT or Harvard would be acceptable. But what's Grinnell?
