Okay so I've been doing fairly well in high school. I have plenty of leadership roles, especially when it comes to the business academy at my high school and FBLA. Business is my passion and I want to pursue my Bachelors of Science in Business Administration - Marketing. I have a lot of community service hours. The one thing that scares me is that I took a college class through dual enrollment and didn't take it seriously and failed. I'm now not taking any classes through dual enrollment after that scared me and I'm taking many extra honors classes that are academic to boost my GPA since it's a 3.6 now. I'm currently going into my senior year of high school and I'm freaking out because the application for UF Freshmen comes online in less than a month and I don't think I have a chance. Do I, at the slightest, have a tiny bit chance? What about taking more classes throughout the year or not finishing them until fall? Would I have to resubmit my application showing that I now have a higher GPA or what?

Hi, you still have a “chance” with a 3.6 GPA if that’s an un-weighted GPA. If 3.6 is a weighted GPA, then UF will be a high reach. It’s really a combination of GPA (most important) and class rigor (the strength of your class schedule). If you took the hardest classes typically available at your school, and your un-weighted GPA is a 3.6, you should be a match for UF.

At this point you can’t do anything about your GPA, focus on your essay (it matters at UF) and, if needed, taking or re-taking the SAT/ACT.

Good Luck!

Did you take any AP classes? Does your school offer them? If you didn’t and your school offers them, then it significantly lowers your chances because rigor is really important.
