Admission Notification

When are Early Action applicants notified of their admission decision?

A lot of people at my school applied to UMBC EA (including myself, haha) and everyone’s been throwing out today as the day our online status should change. That being said, I’m pretty sure there’s no official date beyond “mid-December”. I’m hoping it is today, though!

I also applied Early Action and I’m wondering the same thing.

BigFuture says December 15th, hopefully that’s right. The wait is killing me.

well…

According to the admission’s twitter page, letters were on their way to the post office yesterday! The wait will finally be over!!!

My daughter got her big envelop today with YES! on the front. So indeed the letters have gone out.

I just got accepted! My letter came in the mail today, but I also live very close to the school.

DS also got his acceptance letter. Did anyone get merit aid?

There was no mention of aid in our folder. We also live close - our mail is sorted in Baltimore.

Hey guys, just sign in to your MyUMBC account. Some people’s account have the admission decision posted. Mine does! Im in  Good luck to everyone else!

@Mom24boys‌, 3 years ago when S1 applied, merit scholarship award notice came about a month later IIRC. We would like to know now what S2 will receive, but the wait continues.

Just got in today. Happy to have gotten into college; UMBC is my safety school, so I will still want to apply to other colleges for their regular decision dates (since I got deferred/waitlisted by my top choice ED). Good luck to anyone else expecting a decision!

DD hasn’t gotten anything via snail mail yet, but when she looked at her online UMBC profile, it said “undergraduate admit.” Then she found another page that said she indeed has been accepted. We live right outside DC, so I guess her packet will come tomorrow. Good luck to everyone. If you haven’t yet received snail mail, definitely check online.

D’s been admitted, but she submitted her application for Honors late (Oops). Do you think they will still consider her for the Honors program, maybe as part of regular decision?

Hi, have any international applicants heard back yet??

We’ve been checking the online status over and over, still nothing. Any thoughts on what this means?

Nothing in our acceptance packet about aid, but hoping when Honors decisions are made they will update.

Does anyone have insight about projected budget cuts for the school? We are OOS, but read that there are going to be cutback due to Maryland’s budget deficit.

JMEK15, I read the following in a Baltimore Sun article last month. UMCP and Towson are raising tuition but UMBC said “While most other university system schools are still working on how to absorb the cuts, University of Maryland, Baltimore County officials said the school would not raise tuition or implement furloughs. Officials said the school would delay some initiatives and spread out costs.”

Do you have more recent information that they are cutting back. It sounds like they might be delaying some things but we have not idea what.

I had signed onto Ds obline portal a because we had just received a very generous scholarship offer. The portal homepage is a bit overwhelming, but it has an area with the school’s newspaper articles, one of which said they are planning to raise tuition in 2015 and are looking for ways to make significant cuts. The situation sounded very dire.
