If I’m reading this correctly, now correct me if I am wrong, but they only accepted 65 out of 900+ undergraduate transfers last year and they are already at that number this year? Is that students transfering from another school to here? I’m looking at Autumn Semester 2015 and 2016 btw. Unless I misinterpreted that, I thought the transfer acceptance % was decently high since it was easier to get in as a transfer?
This is the current snapshot being compared against the snapshot around the same time (+/1 1 day, because they take these end of a week) last year.
It does not imply that transfer is selective, but instead that very few transfer applications for Fall 2016 have been processed (or had been processed by 20th december 2014 for au 2015). You can also look at the spring 2016 transfer acceptance rates, and they are actually quite high.
Now this part is a guess, but they would probably like to see au 2015 grades before deciding on transfer for au 2016.
Okay that makes more sense then. I knew I was doing something wrong. I just applied for transfer as soon as my grades became finalized yesterday so it made me curious and worried. Thank you I appreciate it!
For Fall 2014 the admittance rate was 53%. Until the Common Data Set for 2015-16 comes out this spring, it is unknown what the admit rate was for this past Fall 2015. My guess is it was around 50%. If you look at the weekly Admission Report in oesar.osu.edu comparing Autumn 2014 and 2015, there have been 11,485 applicants admitted to the Columbus campus as of this past Monday. If we assume 36,000 applicants to date, then 11,485 out of 36,000 applicants is approx 31%. However, it is possible that OSU has received more applications (upwards of 40,000?), but the number of applicants for fall 2016 has not been published anywhere. And based on the past two years it is likely that the number of admits will increase from the present number of 11,485 to approximately 18,000 or 19,000.
