Admission offer withdrawl?

Will one B on my final high school transcript be sufficient for Rice to withdraw my offer of admission?

I just finished an independent study course for speech credit so I could get out of it in high school, but I got a B for my final grade. This will be the first B on my transcript. Will Rice withdraw its admission offer on this basis? My high school isn't too great, so I'm thinking that a B will probably hurt a lot.

well i made a high C in Calculus BC first semester and i was accepted ED and I have yet to recieve a rescindment of my admission, so you shouldnt be in that much trouble. And if I was, I wonder when they would notify me, bc I already withdrew all my admissions, so I basically would be screwed.

They'd better not. I'm sure me and you aren't the only ones who have been slacking spring semester of their senior year. I'll probably have about 4 B's this semester, which will be the first B's on my final transcript. I wouldn't worry too much because I've got a lot more to worry about than you do in this case.

I'm pretty sure B's don't result in withdrawls, especially in the joke of a class speech is (at least, it is at my school). I would worry about C's and D's, especially if they are in "easy" classes or classes related to your major. A high C in BC Calculus isn't that bad... I know plenty of people who just fail it.

phew, thats a sigh of relief, it was a 79, but i will have an A this semester, friggin bombed the first semester exam. Got a 50 with like a 20 point curve, i knew i shouldnt have stayed up playing games the night before.

hmmm... any other thoughts about this??

Yeah, i'm worried too. got 81's for math AND english at my last ever quarter of high school. first time ever i'm not par of the top 20, and it had to be at the same time we graduate. lol

I know a guy who got nothing but A's his whole school career and is getting all B's second semester. What a thug.

My Calculus teacher said she thought schools rarely would withdraw admission to a school for low grades, but it is possible to start out on probation. Not sure where she got the info; her kids are still in high school.

Heck, no. You won't get your admission rescinded for a B, or probably for even a couple of Bs. The only things colleges really look for when they consider rescinding admission are whether or not you've failed to continue to represent yourself as a strong student.

If, as soon as you got into Rice, you'd dropped all your extracurriculars and started showing up to class drunk as a skunk, Rice would get the impression that during your four years of high school, you'd just been keeping it together long enough to get into Rice, and then you'd just fallen back into your true colors... and those true colors were ones that Rice wouldn't even consider in the first place.

So long as you adequately represented yourself during the admission process and you haven't significantly changed who you are, Rice still wants ya. Don't worry. =) Best of luck in your continued studies!

^ Bah.

...Argh...

You are all normal seniors. They call it "senioritis". My dad used to tell me that a "c" was the first letter in the word "credit" as in "credit for the course". It is never too late to begin to teach yourself moderation. Set some limits and adhere to them. Spring break was too short. Next week is Owl Weekend and some of you will have things to make up when you get back. Have fun but stay focused. Most of all....Hang in there baby!

No, you won't get your acceptance rescinded for a B. But lucky you-- a 79 is a B??? At my s's school an 80-82 is a B- .

addendum: And they don't round up at my s's school-- so a 79.99999 is still a C.

OOPS!! I mixed up info from 2 posts- the OP's and Candyman's. Sorry. Still, a B is no problem, and a C is probably explainable. They won't want to see a D.

Wait, do they ask for your EC's in the final transcript?

How would you reply to this thread in a Rice University context?

I know a girl who was waitlisted and didn't commit to anywhere but that waitlist. She didn't get accepted off the waitlist, so she spent a year doing volunteer work in another country, then reapplied the following next year.

There are some state schools with rolling admissions that will take applications even into the summer.

Or you could get off cc and do your work so that this situation doesn't become a reality (oh, man...i am such a hypocrite... :) )

^ Too late. Back home in the Philippines, we march in March. lol

BTW, this is a weird question, I know, but do guys in Texas wear pink? 0_o

i wear pink, lots of people wear pink, well in my schoool...

Some guys do... in fact, there is this shirt at hot topic that's bright pink and says "Tough Guys Wear Pink" and I've seen several in it... but it's not really incredibly common, either.
