Admission Office

I am certainly not impressed with the Admission Office. Starting early in the summer, S and I found that email inquiries were not answered (through the website) and we got conflicting information. Now, S's two recs are shown as "not received" on the site where you check credentials. We have called three times- the recs were sent in the same packet with all the things that are shown as received. Again- emails go unanswered. A clerical person has now told S to have them faxed again- no idea where they are.

clerical person?

I haven't had any problems with Chicago. All my emails have always been quickly and effectively answered.

Ditto - they got my transcript, counselors rec, and english rec, but somehow missed the science rec, which was in the same package......... riiiiight. I sent about three emails and today they found it.

What they explained to us was that even when the stuff all comes together, they take it apart and put it in "piles" and then update the list from the piles. So-your science rec might not get recorded until a couple of weeks after the transcript. But-the clerical person is manning the gates right now, and wouldn't let S talk to his Admissions Counselor and said "she is in charge of the documents".

how unsettling. not to mention unhelpful. mine was always answered by the office.

wesam88
clerical person as in clerk or secretary (I don't think the divinity schools have been pulled in).

MomofWildChild and banedon17,
I am going to make a wild guess that they received significantly more EA apps this year than last. Not that it makes it any easier waiting - but if I were running it I would also have a clerk handle documents, and cloister (oops, getting religious again) the adcoms to read apps.

wait, how do you check your credentials on the website?

<a href="https://uncommonapplication-d.uchicago.edu%5B/url%5D">https://uncommonapplication-d.uchicago.edu</a>
You have to login and then you Check Credentials.

oh thank you so much-for some reason i didn't notice that before.

Actually, I've found that Chicago is the best about answering emails/related things. They usually do so within 1-2 business days for me. The only thing I'm thorougly not impressed with is the financial aid....bleh.

yea... THEY ARE GOOD! very prompt response... one by one... my stuff were checked in.. and when I called the admissions, they were very helpful in helping me check my stuff... though my 'SAT' scores are not checked, i was told that they have received in... =)
