Admission Question

I’ve read online that the middle 50 percent of ACT scores of students admitted to WashU is 32-34. I’ve also read that WashU superscores. The question: is this 32-34 figure superscored? Or is it pre-superscore?

My guess is that the 32-34 is the actual reported ACT score. Admittedly, I haven’t checked but I don’t think ACT endorses or has anything to do with the concept of superscoring. As far as I know, superscoring is simply how Wash U and some other schools interpret the scores if the applicant takes the test more than once. I seriously doubt that a school could publish average test scores using any number other than the official ACT-generated scores, without manipulation.

I don’t think wustl actively publishes the information, @foursite, so it’s probably not an issue.

Regardless, I’ve actually heard both from admissions reps (1 that it’s the basic score and 2 that it’s the superscore average). So who actually knows. I don’t think it makes all that big a difference though, as a decent chunk of the people I knew who took the ACT over the SAT only took it once anyway (this is just anecdotal from when I was in school).
