In the fall of 2006 I attended an out of state school that I hated and did horribly in, for the spring 2007 semester I decided to attend my local community college without transferring any of the credits (so I was a first semester freshman) now I am planning on transferring to another state school in the fall and sent in my transcript but they are asking me why there was a gap between high school and college. I don't know what I should do, should I say that I took a semester off, dropped out, or come clean and tell them everything. Would it jeopardize my chances of getting in if I told them the truth and that I wanted to leave that behind me and that I started over?

Come clean. It will be worse to lie and be found out.

You’ll want to tell them what you were doing for that gap. Colleges don’t like it when you have taken a long leave of absence from doing anything with yourself. Plus, it may work in your favor to show them that you are mature enough to make these decisions and move on. Good luck!
