Admission Questions - I'm moving....

So, my family and I are making the move from Texas to Virginia in a few weeks. I have some questions about admissions, though...

When I begin applying to colleges (beginning of next school year, my senior year), I won't be considered a resident of Virginia (meaning I will not have lived there for a year yet). However, by the time I actually begin taking classes at the university I choose, I will be considered a resident of Virginia.

I have always wanted to attend the University of Texas, and I know how hard it is to get accepted out-of-state. The Virginia/DC colleges I'm planning on applying to are also great schools, as well. How does all of this affect my chances for admission? I know that going to UT with a high school IB diploma from Reston, Virginia will look sketchy, and I'm really confused about what all this means for my future.

Thanks in advance!(:

Why do you think that? Dig around in the website of the HS you will be studying at, and see if you can find the list of where their students apply and where their grads go. Chances are that some are studying at UT right now.

You problem will be paying for UT as an OOS student, so talk with your parents about the money issue. As for the public universities in VA, you can discuss your residence issues when you start to apply.

Before you move, talk with your current guidance counselor and teachers and find out who can write letters of recommendation for you. Some of them should be able to do that even after you have moved.
