how difficult is it to get into wellesley?

Start on the Wellesley website:

[Wellesley College - Admission & Financial Aid - FAQ](http://web.wellesley.edu/web/Admission/Apply/FAQ)

in the area under FAQ for Testing, statistics on the class of 2014 are provided.

The school is usually categorized as “highly selective” - I’ve seen a 36% acceptance rate listed.

I don’t know that there is any such thing as a “sure” acceptance - high grades in a challenging hs curricula, high test scores, outstanding extra curricular activities, and wonderful essays would certainly help. My D is a current student; a friend of hers applied the next year and had similar grades/test scores, won a national award but did not get in.

what do you think is the most important factor in admission?

what do you believe was the winning factor for your daughter’s admission (ECS, test scores, grades, essay, etc)?

I think good “stats” are very important, but one also needs a strong essay. There are many students here without a “perfect” academic record, but they all have an interesting tale to tell.

I think the grades, test scores, etc. have to be strong, but as college_ruled says, the essay must clearly define you as an interesting individual who will bring something to Wellesley and will also benefit from the environment. My D got in by the skin of her teeth (wait-listed but then admitted) but she let Wellesley know she was very interested.

Her test scores and grades were in the range but not tippy-top. She had some EC’s that she had been committed to for years. For why she got in and her friend the next year didn’t, I truthfully think it just could have been a more competitive year for her friend.

Best wishes!
