Admission receipt?

When do Early Decision people get the admission receipt? I'm just hoping to get the admission ID not too long after November 1st so I can make sure they got everything, and I'm not missing something vital.

Also, does their tracking service allow us to look at our admissions status before the official December 15th notification date?

I was wondering the same thing. I submitted my application a while ago but never got a receipt.

Do you mean the postcard that says "They're Here!"?

I got my admissions receipt November 2...It lets me track my application online.

Mine's not here yet, but then again, I sent mine in 10/31.

I havent got mine either. I submitted on 25th Oct. I sent them a mail, and they say I'll get it within 4 weeks. That wont do me much good if something needs correction.

@david: when did you submit your app?

Got mine today.

I sent my app October 12th.

Theotherguy, when did you turn in your app?

Did you not send the letter with tracking # or return receipt?

I sent mine with Certified Mail on 10/31. They got it 11/5. It's postmarked 10/31 though, that's fine right?

The postcard will have an ID number that you can use to track your application.

Postcard? Do you mean the reciept is sent via regular mail, not electronic? What about internationals?

I sent mine in electronically october 23rd. Got the receipt yesterday.

CMU said on the admissions receipt that if you mailed your application, your admissions receipt will be very late, because they are having difficulty filing all the applications.

Wow that's bad news for me lol.

I got my "They're Here!" postcard today, I guess I'll just have to wait for the big envelope then.

What's in the envelope anyway?

admissions receipt, a DVD about the school, and a financial aid form.

Wow a DVD...

So the admissions receipt basically gives you the tracking number you can use on the CMU site?

Do they send the tracking number via email? If they use airmail, its going to take ages to get here, and considering the efficiency of the postal service here, maybe never.

I remember reading that they don't send it over the phone or by email.

Thanks. Is there any international applicant on the thread who can confirm this please?

The admissions number is sent via mail, its even hand written. (which is horribly inefficient but methinks they want to prevent fraud).

I've been reading on the "where am I now?" site that whatever descision they make on your application will not be put on the site until 3 days after they mail the acceptance/rejection/waitlist/deferred letters on December 15th.
