Admission Rescinded !

<p>I'm a 23 year old california transfer student Northern California who accepted at CSU Fullerton. I was planning on taking a loan out and moving. Today I was notified that my admission offer was rescinded because a difference of the 3.3 gpa on my application and the 2.8 gpa after the fall of 2012. I emailed the head of admissions at CSU Fullerton, explained that I did not intend to lie, and took responsibility for the entire situation. With that said she told me that I could be readmitted if I met the 3.25 gpa requirement after the current spring semester. I have done the math and after spring my gpa will be around 3.0. Before I go further please don't respond with "you should have done better in the fall" because I DEFINITELY know that I should have and take full responsibility for where I'm at now.</p>

<p>Here's how I got here:
had a 3.3 gpa when applying, made deans list for the first time, and never had a semester gpa under 3.0
I didn't try to add my fall 2012 gpa into my application because I was in the middle of the semester at the time
I had a terrible fall 2012 semester gpa of 1.6 (I had problems with finances. My youngest brother moved in with me I had to provide for him. I also had a grandfather go from strong as an ox 160lbs to 150 lbs, bed ridden, dementia, and alzheimer's all during the semester. I'm only sharing this because maybe there is something that could be done do to the circumstances)
I moved to take winter 2013 courses and got 2 A's
Now finishing spring with about 3 B's (finals week may boost to at least one A)
My gpa after spring should be around 3.0</p>

<p>Now I feel like my options are to:
*Try to get fullerton to wait for me to take summer classes to boost gpa. I've done the math and it's possible
*If they won't wait for summer grades I would need to try to raise my gpa using clep or some other type of test (I know nothing about this stuff so help would be appreciated)
*I could accept CSU LA and hopefully transfer to fullerton or a better school in spring or fall
*Take another year of junior college and try again next year. If I did this I would try to go to one of cal poly pomona's local community colleges</p>

<p>I desperately need some advice on what I can and can't do. If you have ANY advice or input I would GREATLY appreciate it.</p>

<p>

This may not work out. Fullerton only accepted applications for spring transfers from CC students this past year (see [Admissions</a> and Records - Admissions Deadlines](<a href=“http://www.fullerton.edu/admissions/prospectivestudent/deadlines.asp]Admissions”>Redirect)). If you go to CSULA you won’t be considered, in all likelihood. </p>

<p>If you apply for the following fall, you’ll have to check to see what the admission requirements would be. Some colleges, like the UC system, will not consider transfer students that have reached senior status; they don’t want students enrolling for only 1 year and then claiming the degree from that school. I don’t know about Fullerton, but its something you should check.</p>

<p>Thank you very much for that information. I probably won’t be taking the LA State route. Hopefully they give me more time. On another thread someone told me I should try filing an appeal due to the circumstances and my fall grades being way out of the ordinary. Do you think that might work?</p>

<p>To the best of my knowledge, CLEP tests don’t count towards your GPA. The way I understand it is that they just eliminate the requirement. You don’t get any course credits or GPA for them.</p>
