"Scheduled for Decision" - but says notification will be 12/15 by 7pm online and by mail. Does it really take that long?

I applied early last year and didn't get my notification until Jan. 15 or something like that (which was the expected date for me). These expected dates for notification can be fairly accurate.

It will, however, be worth every second of waiting!

Mine still says submitted, when will it change to complete? Do they have to check for completeness of all applications first?

Pride_Surfer, How is your freshman year going? I remember from last year that you had also applied to UNC. Are you a die-hard Wolfpacker now?
How about last weeks football game? Pretty sweet, huh?

Packmom, I am doing excellent. I have a few leadership positions on campus (particularly in the CSLEPS office). I am in fact a die-hard wolfpacker now ;). - great game by the way! I am going into final exams with all A's (3 A+s, and 2 A's) and my friends keep trying to get me to apply for transfer to UNC b/c they think I have the grades to do it. I would not even consider applying to UNC now that I am here.

cs08carolina, my application said submitted until like 2 or 3 days before I got a descision. it changed to "under review" and finally to "accpeted" with a nice little congrats message a couple days after the status changed. As soon as it changes, you can expect a descision VERY soon. Also, if you get an invitation to University Scholars Program, I strongly advise you to consider it. (There are a lot of great oppurtunities). Got to gko to class

Josh

P_S..Glad to hear things are going well for you and that you are happy where you've landed. Congrats on the stellar grades. One of s's best friends went to UNC for a year and a half, didn't like it, transferred to NCSU last spring and is much happier.

cs08carolina,
pride surfer is right about when it changes that you can expect a decision. Mine still says submitted but for my UNC Charlotte application on the status site it has a part called residency and mine had always said pending. One day I noticed that it said in-state resident and two days later it said that I was accepted. Basically when you notice a change in your status it means that they are looking at your application and your notification could be coming up soon.

Son's status was 'Scheduled for Decision' for a few weeks online. Today there's no status, but notification of acceptance into COE. Says the official notification should be arriving by US mail shortly. Nothing on the screen about Honors, Scholars, or scholarships.

momhippo
I think it's still early to see info on any scholarships <?>. The Honors & Scholars Programs are a separate application (and you can apply for both but only participate in one program). From last year's CC postings -- a few people got invitations to apply to honors program in FEBRUARY; scholars program says it invites accepted students in DECEMBER. Good luck!!

from NCSU Honors Website:
"Admission to the NC State UHP is not automatic. Students are invited to make application to the program based on several academic criteria, including class rank, high school weighted and unweighted grade point averages, and SAT scores (typically 1300 or better). A letter of invitation, along with information about the program and an application, is mailed to a select group of students after they have been admitted to the university.

If you have been admitted to NC State and have not yet heard from us and you are interested in making application, please call the UHP Office at 919.513.4078 to request an application be sent to you."

NCSU University Scholars site says "Incoming high school students are automatically invited to join the University Scholars Program (USP) after they have been accepted to the university, otherwise they must apply to the program. Invitation materials are mailed starting in December. Please contact Allison Medlin, Assistant Director, at 919.513.3491 to determine if you will be automatically invited or if you should apply."

I havn't heard of anyone actually applying to the Scholars Program... everyone that I know received notification after they were accepted. But if you are not invited, I guess you can ask for an application.

The honors program has to INVITE you to apply (you will see a link in red on your wolfpaw admissions website saying you were invited and to click to apply - you just have to write an essay). In you cases, you can ask them to invite you to apply. Seriously, just call or email.

congrats to your S momhippo.

what is the difference between the scholars program and the honors program. Is one any better or have any advantages than the other

so, when they tell you that notification will come by mail and online notification is on Jan 25 at 5 pm, is the mail coming much earlier, earlier or at the same time? I am not sure of the clarity of the letter

Honors program essay link showed up in Wolfpaw under Apply to NC State. There's no mention of scholars. Is anyone in Honors? What's involved in the required honors seminars? Papers?

Did anybody get any acceptance by snail mail lately?

i have not

I was deferred to engineering.
SAT 1370
780 Math
590 Critical Reading

780 Math level 2
760 Physics

Semester Grades
AP Physics A+
Calc III A
AP Statistics A
AP Psychology A
English IV A

Semester GPA 4.07 Unweighted 4.87 Weighted (1pt for AP's and Calc 3)
GPA Cumulative=3.61(don't ask)
What are my chances???

^are of out of state?

unc please,

your stats are great (esp your math). Your in state.

Your overall GPA was the probably the reason for the deferral (just my guess)

I don't think your semester grades could get any better so Id say you have a pretty good chance. Good luck

I am in state. I go to a Private school where no one gets extra weighted points on GPA freshmen and sophemore years. I was pretty upset that I didn't get in. It was supposed to be my backup. Another kid in my Calc 3 class got deferred as well(suprising since he was a NMSFinalist). He got into Gtech already which was a reach for him. One rumor is that they think this is just a back up for me so they are giving the spot to another person in this first round. IDK??? I am nervous because none of the other schools that I applied to are instate, and I want that instate tuition.
